OK, so a friend of mine is leaving the country and selling her Mazda 2 2008 1.3 Active.

Retail price: R76 000
Trade price: R68 000

She offered it to me for R65k

what you guys think?

thinking bout getting it as a run around car, coz my current one is a bit heavy.

mileage is around 50k

thanks :)

50,000km in 5 years? Superficially it looks like the type of bargain that only comes 'round when you know someone. If you're certain about the car's history, do it.

Full service history? Been in any accidents? If everything checks out it sounds like a good deal. Just check what else is on the market for R65k before you go for it, perhaps you'll find something more to your tastes?

Don't let the prospect of a good deal give you tunnel vision, that's my problem. :o

hehe i share the same sentiments, i've been looking around for a while for something smaller, so guess it was just good timing.

FSH, no accidents or anything.

If that's the case then you probably know the second hand market for cars like that in that price range well enough (I'm assuming there were a few hours of scanning Autotrader, Scumtree and the like looking at what's available). You say you know the car well, rather the devil you know than the one you don't. ;) It sounds like a good deal (not the super-amazeballs deals that make you question their legitimacy) so if I were in your position I'd go for it.

I'm a huge fan of small, economical runabouts for the daily commute (as long as there is something more exciting in the garage for weekend hooning!)

Haha my thoughts exactly, there might be cheaper cars out there, but i wont trust them.

and the weekend car is something that needs to be addressed as well :D

Are you male or female? If you are male , don't buy it that's a woman car:D just kidding mate, sounds like a good deal for a run round car. I am also thinking about one.
