Buying a new PC

Just checked and you should be able to do a Ryzen 5 5600G, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD, 550W PSU, Chassis for ~R10.5k.

You can add a decent GPU to this later on.

It should allow for 30fps gaming at lower resolutions/settings, plenty of benchmarks on youtube.

Better option would be to save some more and do a i5-12400 build with a used gpu from carbonite.

Used GPUs at the moment are ridiculous.

Hi Barbarian if i leave the gaming out, is the option 2 pc ok ?

Not really, no.
For the same price you can have this, which would be an overall better experience:

However, If I had ~R10k to spend on a PC, I would go for Ponder's 5600G suggestion.

You can survive on an i3, 8gb ram, go used on graphics, even a 1060 will allow you medium settings on new titles.
Agreed. My setup is almost like this except that I have a GTX 750 ti 4GB (An absolute workhorse of a GPU, I can tell you that...)

@rexter

Let me give a more thorough explanation.

Sure, option 2 would be "fine". I have a friend whose primary computer, the one he uses for work every day (mostly Excel and Email) and uses to do a Python course, is an old Acer laptop with 4GB RAM, a mechanical HDD, and probably a Celeron CPU.
He is self employed so replacing it would be a business expense. I have sent him links for SSD specials, and I know dropping R1000 on an SSD on any given day would not make any difference to him financially.
Yet he still uses it as is, because it's fine for his needs. Well, he thinks it is...

Option 2 would also be fine for your needs. The CPU is great, and can easily be used in gaming builds costing R30 000 and not be a bottleneck. The rest of the system is crap though, and for the overall experience it will give you is worth about R5 000 in my opinion.

If you buy any of those options, you might end up making posts like "Windows sucks. My phone costs half as much and is faster than my computer."
Even the laptop I gave my domestic worker for free had an SSD in it. Here you have a R12K PC still running a mechanical HDD.

As I said originally, add an SSD and another 8GB of RAM, and it would make a world of difference. It still won't game though.

It is also a Dell, and they use a lot of proprietary crap in their machines, meaning that upgrading it will be cumbersome and also limited.

Get that 5600G

I feel your pain. I seriously need to get a new PC, but just dont have the minimum R25K needed to sort of future proof my purchase.

paying 25K is very painful got to make do with wat can afford

any recommendations on were to buy the 5600G

Since you wanted to buy a Dell or HP originally, I assume you're not going to build it yourself?

I would definitely recommend Wootware. They are slightly more expensive, but I trust their customer support completely.

Yep, and that is not even close to a premium spec machine.
I assume you mean for a notebook?

Built a Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB 3600MT/s, 1TB Gen4 NVMe, AIO, 750w gold modular PSU box yesterday for R24K - definitely a premium spec machine

Granted, it has no GPU included in that price :D:crying:

sorry guys for the delay im not looking to build just want to buy a desktop thats ready to use
