So they broke into our apartment the past weekend.
Stole my TV etc etc etc.

Insurance is going to pay out the damages.

So now, I'm in the market for a new TV.

I saw this:
http://www.catsdigital.co.za/samsung-ua-46d6000-46-200hz-full-hd-3d-led-tv-t-b-a-.html

But is there something similar (with that refresh rate) in non 3D? I'm no TV term GENIUS nor do I know much about them. I had a Samsung 42" Plasma before. Not looking for another one. LED-Backlit LCD is what I'm currently looking at.

Any other bargains? I live in CPT.

I just bought that exact TV, and I am very happy with it.

There are a few draw backs though. The screen uniformity is not perfect, but that is a given for the side mounted LED lighting.

The screen is slightly reflective, but its actually hardly noticeable at all, even during the day, (as long as the curtains are closed :D )

Also, I paid R10999, but I bought mine at the AVA expo and it was a show special.... So maybe they could do a better price for you.

I also wasn't interested in the 3D, but at this price point, you will find that most, if not all TV's, have 3D. Fortunately I received two free pairs of the active 3D glasses as part of the deal, and the 3D is actually very good. Even though I will probably hardly ever make use of it.

I considered this: http://www.catsdigital.co.za/samsung-ps-51d550-51-full-hd-3d-plasma-tv.html

but the screen was extremely reflective, irritatingly so. Pity, because otherwise it is a very good TV.

Thanks ono'

How was the refresh rate an smoothness on that Plasma? With my plasma, I had a noticeable difference between that and a similar spec (size) LED.

Seems like the LED handles fast pacing MUCH MUCH better.

Other than that, I'm used to the glare, and it's not that light in my living room in any case.

That LED just looked sooo sweet. Want to wall mount the TV!

Your 42" plasma = 50Hz; either it's old or the LED-LCD handling motion better would have to have been >100Hz. Because a 50Hz plasma > 50Hz LCD for motion handling.

PS51D550 is 50Hz (and 5" bigger for R3k cheaper).

I hear what you are saying postman, but is the clarity and motion smoothness as good?

Viewing distance is about 2.3m from TV.
Going to be wallmounted.

Probably not, due to the UAxxD6000's 200Hz engine.

I will most definitely check out the 51".

Have always been a fan of Plasma, but I think to future proof it, I want to go LED-Backlit LCD.
It's getting replaced by Insurance, so ...

Does anyone know where I can get the ua46D6000 in CPT for a bargain?

If not any here, how is the shipping from CATS Digital in JHB?

Will Tafelberg/House & Home/Game take Cats Digital's price and match/lower what they are selling?

Thanks ono'

OH No he did'nt....

R1199 for a 19" LCD TV Telefunken at Game, is this OK or is there a better cheaper model?

Handling of motion has nothing to with whether it's plasma, LCD or LED - rather the refresh rates.

Maybe the equivalent LED/LCD you looked at initially was only a 50hz - and in that case you compared a 50hz plasma to 50hz LED/LCD ... and walked out with the plasma. In that case the plasma would have been smoother and the better buy.

Now that you're looking again since your incident, you're noticing 120hz+ screens and they just happen to be LED LCD. By the way, the real world difference between LCD and LED LCD isn't very large at all. I bought my LCD a few years ago and my parents LED is so similar you'd battle to notice the difference.
