buying a P2/P3 laptop

i think i have found a bargain. in roodepoort there are 2nd hand laptops going for P2-R400 and P3-R800 dell/compaq. i haven't seen them just saw a notice. anything i need to know before buying ? i just want the laptop for music only.

Ah yes the IBM thinkpad.

I used to dj with one of those and it never gave me any problems.

Skyhawk if you buy one of those models go with the DELL P3 as they are of a very high quality.

It may be old but the screen is nice and big, plus it would make a great torrent slave.

The sound quality on the old laptops & PC's were horrible. So before you just go ahead and buy it, make sure that you test the sound quality first.

R800 is probably not bad for a Pentium 3 laptop, if it has like 40-80GB HDD, 512MB+ RAM and a reasonable screen and includes an OEM WinXP license.

You were referring to the built in speakers?

I can vouch for them being terrible, i only remembered when you mentioned it.
