Buying a small form factor PC as a network appliance.

Not quite the same, but picked up a Lenovo Q190 recently, watch runs quite well.

What do you mean by network appliance and/or how do you intend to use it?

Will be running FreeBSD as a network appliance. Requires at least 2 NICs with 4 being a bonus, needs to be silent and the CPU in the link in the OP is what I'd like. Not too fussed about the SSD or RAM as those I can source locally.

I guess the question is... how much are you willing to pay?

If you look for something under 5k, then I don't have ideas, but if you are willing for 6k+ then let me know.

Nope, need something lower power, and relatively cheap.

The cheap is the problem

I use this for my firewalls, network appliance that is small, low power, set it up as routers

I sometimes add a card for ADSL/ISDN/LTE and use that for failover.
Then I disconnect the VGA Connector, and enable the Serial/Console port. (You get a "Cisco like" cable with.

I've tested so many solutions, from mini ITX, NUC, HP Micro with extra NICs, some really small pc from some company in Hatfield, ag you name it. with all of them you need to have extra convertors and cables, this is a neat solution, you drop the box, and unless lightning hits it, it just keep on working.

I have these boxes installed from Malawi till Cape Town. (rugged/industrial)

Those look great - where do you source them from?

Alright just for closure I ended up ordering 2 of the boxes I linked in the OP, and for some reason while using AGS I didn't end up paying a cent in duties so I'm pretty happy.

Thanks for all contributions!
