So I'm moving to a place without a stove and I'm looking to get a low-end stove/oven unit.

Don't do much baking but I do a decent amount of cooking on the stove top itself.

Would I be doing myself a disservice by buying a R2k Defy cheapie? http://www.guzzle.co.za/specials/view/289233/

Or is it worth doubling up to get a slightly better model? This one is also Defy but costs R4k. http://www.guzzle.co.za/specials/view/289738/

I'm really not sure what the difference is between these two units. It looks like the one is simply bigger. Why would you pay double the price for a marginally bigger unit?

Should I be looking at anything else? Second hand off gumtree maybe?

Any help on this would be appreciated!

Have you had a look at some of those small ovens ~26 litre that seem to be everywhere at the moment <R500 (usually have 2 or 3 plates)? You could also look at halogen glass ovens ~R400. These should be much cheaper to run and be able to do most of what you can do in a normal oven. LG also sells a Lightwave microwave with a convection/halogen light cooking feature. Maybe you could also consider a gas hob to save on rapidly increasing electricity costs in the future.
