Buying a Used Car

This may sound stupid but have you had your battery load tested?

I had a Fiesta with pretty much the same issues and in the end it was just the battery.

As for the other repairs that you've had done, those are all wear and tear items and are routine.

I sold mine with 220 000km on the clock, it was a damn reliable car.

It does not sound so stupid. A faulty battery will cause many strange electronic issues.
 
I will like check my battery as I have not replaced it since I bought it
strange that no one thought of it as all the places I went to said it might be the sensors in my doors ,gearbox ,fuel tank etc and only ford can really replace them.

but if still want to go for finding a replacement i am really interested in the Reno Megane sedan the key card and push button start button combination certainly is very interesting to me plus it doesn't look to bad for me
plus the one I have my eye on has a diesel engine so that should be reliable right?

Diesel service intervals are usually shorter but this depends on the make and model

French diesel cars have longer service intervals. Not sure of the Renault, but my diesel Citroen has a service interval of 20 000km or every 12 months.

I know most diesels are 10'000km but they are probably increasing it as cleaner fuels are developed and tolerances are improved
 
well i did read that Peugeot diesel engines are regarded as one of the best in terms of build quality and reliability not sure about reno though.

But if you had to choose which do you think would be the most reliable Peugeot 107 ,Citroen c1 or Toyota aygo first genaration?
 
I'd pick the Aygo probably. There is one that works for a shuttle company that does the Grahamstown - PE route twice a day. 520km a day and it's been running for well over three years now.

I am not sure how many kays are on the clock but I am going to bet it's not just a handful. I also reckon resale value on the Toy will be better than on the Frenchies. They are derived from the same platform though so do bear that in mind
 
Did you buy the Fiesta new?

Or was it a buggered second hand purchase from the start?

my wife's 2007 seat leon tdi is 15000km...
 
yes I did buy it used but another one of my regrets of this car is that it is black and in this hot summer I can use it as a fryer or oven
