Buying a used picanto

But yeah at least I know the engine number etc matches, the finance part said not recorded and the stolen part says something about waiting 48 hours so I hope an update comes through

I did PM you on this, but as enigma says, there is very little more that you will get from a Transunion report.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying a used Picanto as they are good little cars to begin with. The fact that it was a rental is also not a bad thing either, as those cars tend to be better maintained than the average privately owned ones, and you know that if anything was going to go wrong by this stage, it's already happened. They also tend to have their mileage bumped up pretty quickly which is a hell of a lot better than your average "little old lady's car" that never reaches operating temperature in that mileage, and will probably collapse in a heap at 50 000km!

Personally, if the car looks OK, go for it!

Ok so we picked up the GF's car today and she said goodbye to her old golf, she is really happy and we are hoping for many happy miles

Just have one issue with my picanto, when I use the aircon ,then switch it off ,there a bad smell coming from aircon. Not sure how to fix this.

Only thing worrying about the Picanto is it's ncap ratings. Didn't do too well, I'd avoid it if your GF is planning on drive a lot or if she regularly ventures onto the highway.

she does like 8km one way a day and is a lot safer than her previous car imo

Great little car, but isn't the mileage a little high for a car that's just over a year old? I'd go to the dealership to check if you can get a better price on a Picanto, there was a special on 2010 model Picanto's at some of the dealerships to clear stock for the new Picanto.

lol dude too late now anyway as picked up car yesterday, is a tad high but that is expected with a rental

i suggested to her but she would have loved to but didn't want to pay like R600 a month more, we rather going to keep this one for a while then trade on something better

Thread revival, long story short had issues with the old picanto and swapped it for a new one and payed difference, soooo much better, almost a month now and the GF loves it.

Heavy vibrations on steering but only at particular speeds, first it was rims buckled, they got replaced, better but still there, whatever caused the rims damage seemed to have damaged the front suspension/rack

And as Murphy would have it it could not be felt on the first 3 test drives, prob due to not being used to the car etc

But much happier now and piece of mind.
