just a bit of perspective.
i bought my elite in sept 2007 for R4599 at look and listen. i guess they cost about R4500-5000 now - which isnt that bad. i remember feeling sick hearing about all the price cuts the whole time. so whoever bought their xboxes just before the price increase in jan 09 - score!
i cant understand nausea and contipation about the xbox price increase (sony fans love to harp on this and RROD). elites are still cheaper or on par with prices of 2 years ago. another thing to consider: go to look and listen, buy wanted xbox with a discovery credit card and get at least 10% back.

Look I found one that is still going for R2599 360Pro... but I don't want to buy it on principle... The other stores literally ripped the price off the box and stuck a new tag that was a grand more expensive... A new Batch at the higher price I can understand... but not something thats already been on your shelf at 2799, you bought it at the old exchange rate... and you're simply giving yourself an extra grand profit. Thats horse**** to me!

I feel for you. I was in the same situation. Bought my Pro console in March 2007 for a whopping R3999, which came with an extra wireless controller and Forza 2...

I don't get how pirates think,, so they need to burn a disc and download it.

costing them R120 - R150 a game, when there is hundreds of second hand legal games
available between R80 - R150 a game.

Its the fact that you can have the latest games, and every other game for cheap.

I've modded enough Xbox 360s to know that the abundance of games available via Internet and borrowing from people makes piracy a lifestyle choice.

Mmmm, so that is the solution! Maybe I must become a pirate too. What is the cheapest Xbox available.

If you wish to become a pirate, so be it.

The reality is that I repair much more consoles than I mod for playing copied games. That's the personal choice of any person in the general public to make.

Nice choice quoting of my earlier post to put in your sig. You get a kick out of it don't you?

I'm chuffed that I'm troll bait for you. Well done IAP

Nah, forgot to remove the link. Done. Concerning the pirating, I cannot "afford" all games for both consoles, the superior PS3 and the Xbox, and still get all the good Blu-Ray movies so maybe its a solution I thought. As I am not in the pirate bussiness I have to get someone else to do it.

Listen dude, what you posted in bull****! You CHOSE to be a gamer, and therefore CHOSE to put up with the cost of being a gamer. No such thing as you can't afford it. If you don't have the money, you don't buy it. But by your selfishness, you destroy the industry for people like me that actually purchase every game. And if I don't have money I go without games for months. I am sorry but with your logic you won't get anywhere.

I'd say if you could try getting the Elite version,as it allegedly have a better chipset (Falcon chipset) than the other versions, witch supposedly has less failure rates (RROD),

Even the Arcade has the same chipset these days ;) ........ post-Oct 2008 (I think) models all have substantially less RRoD issues. Sheesh.

I've owned to 'boxes so far. None of them RROD'd - the first one only started giving trouble with the disc drive, so I got it swapped out as it was still under the 1-year warranty. Thanks to L&L, I got a brand new HDMI-console afterwards... :D

Hi dude I do not own any modded console or any pirated game, neither DVD.
So please chill. Rather preach to the guys assisting and supporting the modding of consoles to advance pirating life styles. Its thus not my logic its yours that ripped that post out of context.

Are you spending your money on non-essentials like food and lodging?* You do realise that the poor game industry is in desperate trouble, selling only $20 billion in games last year. Those poor guys are in big trouble. By not buying games you are destroying the industry.

*Bull**** Statistics Again will need to add this into their lost income calculation.

But by your selfishness, you destroy the industry for people like me that actually purchase every game.
A person who has no intention of buying any games, but plays copied games is going to destroy the game business? Really, exactly how are they going to achieve this miracle?

I find it very interesting that so many people have huge moral problems with playing copied console games, but not with forging addresses to get onto Xbox Live - and I strongly suspect - copying dvds, copying software, torrenting, copying etc. Not advocating piracy by any means; just don't get why console games hold such a special place in some people's hearts

I remember some bloke at varsity arguing that by copying music people are depriving muso's from income, which means that international acts won't come perform in SA. Which leads me to conclude that Bryan Adams must be the sharpest copyright protection gurro around because he's been in SA more than Thabo Mbeki.

Classic :D LMAO

I hear you though. Piracy is piracy. Be it torrented TV shows, music, games, movies ... borrowing a movie/music from a friend and copying it ... etc, etc.

Selective moral high ground is a load of CRAP
