Buying my first car

And here was me thinking that at 29, having saved 100k in the last 1.5 years was brilliant!!! What do you guys do that you make so much money at 24??? Clearly I am in the wrong industry!!!

Well, I must be doing something wrong, cause there is no way I can save R100k in 18months. That's R5555.56 a month.

hi guys its this easy call 0860 426 2937 to find out more about YES... I would suggest you try it - just get a quote at least

I know about YES phone 0860 426 2937 - really cheap insurance based on your driving behaviour.. Try it you will save tons

friend of a friend - you know, spreading the word... Dont know them myself however it all sound great. have seen the Regent cars driving around in joburg & always trying out new things - lets get quotes & compare our current insurance with YES?

Then we can really give some feedback to the others - up for the challenge

Already done, came out slightly more expensive for me. Not worth changing for me then.

phoned 0860 426 2937, here with my experience: the call wasnt too long before I know it was over, gave all my details & I received my quote already which is valid for 14 days. Now I need to compare... Wait for it I had to go look for my current policy - current R1003.62 Yes 854.63. Will I be a YES going forward?

Another new user backing Yes! His/her first 4 posts are just promoting Yes.

Yeah, the whole thing is a bit fishy. There are a lot well respected members on this forum who are involved in the industry, maybe if one of them backs this insurance company, then I will bother to investigate further

I could also start an insurance.company and give cheap premiums but what scares me is actually having an accident and having to claim. How can anyone trust an insurance company with no footprint whatsoever.

Until they are proved to be legite and not some fly by night, we should all have the common sense to stay far away.

Anyways, 3 new members punting this product? What type of respectable company markets their product like that. Its embarrassing...

Well I checked it out, and I was very skeptical before, and it seems legit. Regent being the underwriters.

They basically put a tracking device in your car, this is what I got out of them:

The tracking device is basically going to track three things. How you drive. Where you drive and when you drive.
To keep you safe we track these things and if you need it we even send you on a free driving course where you can improve your driving abilities and also learn to be more aware of things around you. You can monitor your car at any time in live time and also your driving stats.
You get a crash sensor so should something happen the police and your family is notified.
You get stolen vehicle recovery as well and watch me drive which should you feel unsafe you can call in and have the team monitor you and should you deviate at all they will respond immediately to your distress. This is all included in your monthly fee

To me, this will open up a few loopholes for them. Maybe that if you have an accident and were travelling at 140km/h in a 120km/h zone, then they wont pay. You're breaking the law. Stuff like that will possibly come and bite you in the ass.

But then again, I honestly think its a great concept. Monitoring the way you drive SHOULD affect the premium, it makes sense! You can't go racing and expect a normal premium like average Joe. Why not in this day and age, where electronics is getting cheaper to do this kind of monitoring? Its basically a way of individualising the premiums.

UPDATE from Regent(ie: Yes Insurance):
Your premium get’s reviewed every 3 to four months but you will be kept up to date on your driving etc. there is nothing saying if your speeding and you’re in an accident you’re not covered. All the policy requires is that you drive reasonably and not like a complete lunatic all the time.

Sorry been ill the last while! Glad some of you are checking it out to be honest im not surprised two others are doing it cause a forum is obviously a place where people come to check out for best prices. That's how i found this forum was throuh google and like everyone offers advice i offered mine

Markface I still wanted to ask you how your quote was did it beat your present one? I'm asking for all these sceptics who seem to think I'm doing a promotional thing here when in actual fact I'm trying to offer advice cause it's what i needed got ripped by my previous insurer paid R975 and I've never claimed yet premium stayed the same actually went up which i find pathetic

Way less to be honest. But I dont know the fine print on how the premium will get affected, so I'll hold out for now. I'm not sure if its a pay-as-you-drive kind of thing or what. I need a bit more transparency first - but I must admit it looks good.

Have you asked them about it or did they send you anything. The pamphlet thing doesn't seem to be pay as you drive though and when i called they didnt mention that at all!!! Think I'm going to give them a call and find out all i can anything specific you want me to ask other than pay as you drive and details?

Well just spoke to a consultant there. She said quiet emphatically to be honest that this is not pay as you drive this is a "monitoring" insurance and they look at your stats (which i assumed is how you drive?) but you can view it all on the net and they say they correspond with you in any case so your always up to date on what and where and how you are driving. It helped clarify some points at least so yeah helped me dont know if it helps you guys at all?

Just got my call from YES to install the device they do it where you ask them to. They also have a website up but they say it's under construction but you can still get info from it that brochure thing and more. But guys really so far so good but I'll keep you posted on it all my premium changed as well paying R231.75 a month due to the fact that I took one of the first 500 Policies.
Thanks to the few of you who believed me!!
