Buying on AliExpress.com

Has anyone purchased anything from AliExpress.com, the Chinese equivalent to Ebay. Is it safe?

I have. Safe but takes a few weeks.

It is safe. Used them plenty times. I usually decide on which seller based on feedback ratings. Factor in Shipping via DHL, TNT and FedEx + import duties and handling charges too.

It's a 50/50. Your purchase will always get shipped but there's no guarantee you'll receive it.

I bought a phone for my gf from aliexpress. Samsung galaxy a5 2017 duel sim peach color. It took about a week to get here shipped via DHL. Will definitely use them again. Cheap items however you will have to wait a while just like eBay.

cover and tempered glass screen protector for my phone.. the best screen protector and cover i have had ever and at a quarter of the price for anything in SA, shipped..

Also got an original apple thunderbolt to gigabit rj45, a third of the price of anything in SA, shipped..

There is no paypal option. I don't have a virtual credit card either. What is the advice on using a regular credit card? I have a ABSA mastercard and Nedbank Visa. Do they use 3D Secure? Alipay? Can I transfer from my bank account into Alipay as a beneficiary without linking Alipay to my bank account?

What about the choice of shipping? ChinaPost, or AliExpress Standard Shipping?

I have several times, still waiting for 2 orders to arrive. It takes around a month and a haf to 2 months on free shipping, although there are other shipping options that are faster. Before I buy, I usually check out the sellers reputation and feedback rate to avoid problems.

I pay with a cheque card, credit also works. When shipping is free its chinapost or alixpress standard free shipping. Comes with tracking also.

Yup - i've bought on Ali - the only shipping option on the stuff I bought was through China Post - it took about 2 - 3 months for the stuff to arrive.

There's a thing, buyers protection, which lets you stop the funds from being paid over the seller, so when ever that clock was close to running out, I would contact the seller through the site and they would extend it while we waited for the stuff to arrive.

As above, I only bought from the guys who were pre-approved and good sellers.
