WOOHOO!! Telkom just informed me my ADSL is up and running. Now just to test at home quick and then decide which uncapped solution to go with. No more crazy pricing from Iburst.

It was a very good option in the beginning 4 years ago, but you have fallen so far behind to ADSL, it is simply no longer financially viable to use Iburst. I have never really had any major hassles over the last 4-5 years, but it is time to part ways. I will retain the account for another month or so just to ensure I don't lose anymore emails, but after that, goodnight, Godbless & goodbye.

My issue exactly I have had no issues... and have brilliant signal... but 1meg is just not enough anymore and the data is now waaaay over priced...

Why is wireless still so rediculously expensive!

Ladies and gentleman, after having used my ADSL today for the first time as opposed to Iburst, I can safely say bye bye Iburst. The difference is simply indescribable.

R145 analogue line + R499 WA 16GB special incl 4mb line = R644.00

Iburst 8GB package which I have/had = R592.00

R52.00 is two packs of smokes less or 4 less 2 litres of coke or 50km less driving.

No brainer.

Waiting for my WA 16GB special they are still busy transferring my line....

I applied for the self install adsl myself, so lets see how soon I can get the line. Im worried though, it seems quite a lot of people have applied for adsl lines (everybody talks about the MWEB special). *hold thumbs*

iburst wasnt too bad for me sofar. If I could get the full advertised 1mb speed I would have stayed longer. But alas, I am lucky if I get half that speed and most days when its soo busy I barely get a 3rd. I need something faster with all my online work. Talks about a 2mb modem (lots of money again) coming again someday and upgrading to it might not be worthwile anyway considering the costs and speeds involved.

I do agree. Iburst has to pull something out of the hat. It has to compete directly with ADSL (Higher speed broadband).

We all know "to provide wireless" does cost more moneyto provide. But thats just the initial cost and then to keep it maintained. By now those costs should have all have been payed off long time ago, since Iburst is not a new company.

People will always go for the cheaper vs Worth while option (It can only be one or the other, either you are the Cheapest in the Arena or you are really providing a worth while service and basically the best option to take for the amount of money) <-- You can bet your money on that statement.

Iburst, we are already showing the money....Our question is simple : Show us the options?

Phone them daily, if not twice a day and ask them nicely to rush/escalate it. Got mine done WAY quicker as a result.

Iburst is a decent option if you do not have ADSL as an option, but other than that, there is no way they can compete currently with ADSL. They are simply too expensive. The speed and cap difference vs ADSL is simply too big, nevermind the cost.

you know your isp is the best when your using your phone to access the Interwebz ;)

Lol, one of the (luckily) few times I had to deal with their Unhelp desk, I had been getting appalling speeds for over a week and was trying to get an answer as to why. But the woman I spoke to couldn't understand the difference between full signal and full speed. She kept telling me to move my antenna around, and I was saying, no it's fine where it is, I have 100% signal. As far as she was concerned, if I had full signal, I had to be getting full speed. Was like hitting your head against a brick wall.

Grrrrr, maybe I should move aswell....

Thing is, I'll have to dig up half my driveway to get those evil Telkom wires into my home.

What were the speeds on speedtest.iburst.co.za and speedtest, net?

I have been on Adsl for a about 3months now and i have not had a days problem with it, I can play wow again, download torrents and surf the web alot faster and best of all its cheaper. Even if Iburst brings out there 2meg connection today they are already waaaaay behind everbody else in regards to speed. They cant compete against 3G, they cant compete against adsl. They going to have to pull something big out of there hat if they want to keep there customers.

Ronald any news regarding the cancelation of my account, I tried to get hold of somebody in accounts yesterday but my Attempts proved futile?

Will forward your query on to Gcebile and ask her to contact you.

I was providing my personal experience with copper! (which is not uncommon) We are not resting and working on providing more services and value.

NZB's :D

I have never had a wireless service provider so im not fair to judge we dont get iburst in EL but even if we did i cant really think of one pull factor for me to leave my adsl i have never had a days problem with it

Problem with 3G is that it's still insanely expensive. Sure, telkoms 3G is reasonable up until iburst doubled all packages. The 3G networks are over congested as it is. But, ADSL has shattered ibursts attractiveness, and with the threat of upgrading DSL to 10Mbps - iburst is in for a hard time.

True but i bet 3G will come out with cheaper and faster packages sooner then iburst will, and tbh Iburst's network also seems to be very congested, i dont get the same speeds i did when i first joined up with iburst aswell as the latency is alot higher then it was 2 years ago.
