C200 CDI vs A4 2.0 TDI

Comfort and luxury.. C200 CDI.

Might not be most refined engine. But in my opinion the C200 CDI would be my choice. Engine is very solid. Many happy miles in it. I own w204 2012 C250 CDI(285,000kms), test drove F30 320d when released. Decided to pay more for C250 CDI, found the ride to be harder on the BMW, and super comfortable in the Benz. Comfort trumped, boy racer performance handling enthusiast.

Ask for test drive. See which suits your needs.

In the long run. I think a Benz ages better than BMW. -there we go, let me open some can of worms with that last statement

I agree with you, the Merc is probably the more luxurious of the three.

I owned a BMW 330d F30 for a while and was amazed at how well built it was and how stupidly quick it was. Fuel economy was fantastic. Jhb to Durbs at the speed limit gave me 4.2l/100km - the 320d should do similar or better.

320d is also quick if you need it to be. It's got plenty of grunt for safe overtaking.

I'm a die hard VAG fan, but the diesel Audis are not great. I also grew up a Merc fan, but the CDI is also not as good as the BMW diesel. So with your criteria, for me it's a no brainer. And the kicker is the BMW ZF 8sp box. It's just magical!

Test drive the 3 and make up your own mind :)

Yeah will be fine for years, mine on 160k, original everything still!

2013 model might still have some motorplan left in case something goes wrong.
 
Drove the bm and love it! It's just out of plan but I still want to go for it. If the figures work and looking at all the replies I agree, it's a no brainer.

For what it's worth, I faced a similar sort of question and ended up buying a 2013 BMW F30 320i Luxury Line.

Something I found was that the 320D's were all more expensive and tended to be higher mileage ... and I was worried about the extra mechanical risk of a diesel vs a petrol.

Seven months in, I can confirm that I'm still happy with my decision, and if you're looking at BMW it's worth going for the Luxury Line trim. That little bit of silver trim around the edges makes it so worth it, and I also kinda prefer the wood trim on the inside (even though it is terribly fake plastic lol - a weird choice for BMW).
