Cable breaks caused wide disruption: EASSy

“This process is now largely complete,” Wood said. “Customers should not notice any material impact on latency or quality of service on the alternative route.”
This guy's ISP is clearly NOT MWeb.

What he is saying makes sense to me. I know some of the big ISPs made big investments in for instance WACS. I therefore wonder if they are making their own profits on the cables. Just saying... I'd like to know why for instance MWeb has not purchased redundancy on the other cables. There must be a reason. (if their business model is honourable)

You did notice this right?
Chris Wood, CEO of the West Indian Ocean Cable Company (WIOCC).
What makes you think he is even in SA since their contact location is in Mauritius for the WIOCC?

I do agree I expected better redundancy from MWEB, but it beats what happened not so long ago when other budget ISPs had NO redundancy at all and if Seacom was down so were you. Limited > none.

the whole long weekend and ****ty internet. no audio streaming no online gaming.

I wonder, if they find the ship responsible for this, can they then claim the damages from the owner of the ship?
