Cable theft cripples more Telkom services

And I thought cable theft was down by 20%.... After reading all these stories in one week I think they meant to say that the cable theft was up by 20%... This is good news :D cos maybe they'll call KT Corp after this.

And they still *****foot around this scourge. Blows my mind. Treat as serious economic crime and put them away for longer than forever!

I wonder if Fibre optic cables can be stolen like Copper cables??

I feel for Telkom, theyr'e being shot left, right, up and down!

No real value in optic cable, if they steal optic and is damaged, you throw it away.

I just cant believe that since copper is being stolen they are not using fibre as a new standard installation.

They just keep putting back...

I remember reading somewhere on this forum that beads can be made from the cable.

Fiber wont work with the present telephone system which they are busy changing

I think they're worried that if they replace it with fibre, the thieves will still steal it, then realise its not copper and throw it away. Telkom will still have to replace it and will end up spending more money this way.
