Cable was actually perfect

When it comes to finding shows Netflix has become the expert bait-and-switcher. Google for a show and one of the first results will be Netflix.

My wife wanted to rewatch Desperate Housewives, so I searched.

But when I get to Netflix...

Indeed, don't you love it when you're doing a search in Netflix and it even finishes the name of the movie or series you're looking for, only to tell you sorry nope don't have it.

Sounds like content it had but then expired?

Cable (and DSTV) is kak. I want to watch what I want to when I want to. Aimlessly flicking through dozens of channels to determine which show currently playing is the least detestable is some sort of hell. I can't believe that anyone with any intelligence is actually OK with that. Maybe you get lucky and Top Gear is playing, of course you then check the runtime and see that its the last 10 minutes 🤮

Most of us don't do that. For decades DStv has had a VoD and Catch Up service for most popular content, on decoder and online, so we watch what we want when we want to as well. It does expire much quicker though.

But.... quality of what's available has dropped in many respects, so it's not comparable anymore. Maybe Canal+ will fix that.. enough.
