Where in Cape Town can I buy a few sets of RCA cables of reasonable quality at a reasonable price?

This is for between a NAD set of CD player, preamp and amp. Currently using the gold plated made to size ones but they are more of a pain than they are worth because they often don't work then need wiggling.

Everything Ive seen so far is either thin flimsy rubbish or has a crazy price tag.

I don't like supporting them because of their pricing scheme where a cash paying walk in pays 50% more than those with accounts who buy on credit.

To be quite honest, you wont really notably increase your sound quality with a thicker cable for Analog Stereo. Any possibility to use something else like Digital Coax (similar to RCA, just orange colour port) or Fibre Optic / Toshlink? This will make a dramatic improvement on your sound quality.

That is how it works with wholesale shops. Otherwise the trade can't make any money from the equipment they resell.

The DAC is in the CD player, the signals are all analog from there on.

I'm just looking for something that's above the quality of the type of cables that come bundled with dvd players, but not R800/cable rip off stuff.

yeah, unfortunately.

Will just have to pay cooldrink money to the sale floor guy as usual to get the good prices.

What model is the player?

My NAD has digital out as well as analog. Got some cheap AR cables as well.

I'm not sure, but the amp is an older model stereo amp which doesn't do digital, only regular RCA inputs and the record player phono module.

afaik digital inputs on NAD stereo amps only come in add on DAC modules, well on the earthy priced ones at least.

But if you have and use digital inputs on your AMP there is no point in getting a CD player with a decent DAC as a R100 dvd player will give you the same digital bit stream as a R10000 CD player if they were both connected digitally to the amp.

Same as a computer - what you put in, is what you get out. I'll see if I can source something decent at a reasonable price for you tomorrow.

I've found you a decent AV cable set at a reasonable price >R100. PM me to get it to you.
