Calendar month resignation

Yeah but that doesn't mention what happens if you resign mid or just into the month - where you have to work until the end of the following month. That's where they really schtump you with this calendar month rubbish.

That's why you never do that. Always resign last day of the month.

It's not always that straightforward. Job offers don't always come in the last day of the month.

And?

Companies understand the 1 calendar month wait. It's the 2 calendar month that screws you.

No, they don't understand that at all. More often than not if you quit on the 15th April they'll make your last day the 31st May.

Yes. I wasn't talking about your current employer though. Your new employer will understand that you can only start 1st June.

Who cares if they understand? It sucks. When you quit a job you don't want to hang around the office for another 50 days. It's like dumping a girl and still having to live with her. Plus you don't start earning a better salary till later, and most often in my experience, there's nothing for you to do anyway because now that you've quit all your ongoing work becomes pointless.

I'm not saying that it doesn't suck. Was just explaining what happens when you resign mid month.

Although if you have an area of responsibility you should understand they need time to find a replacement.

Yea, no sure.

In my current company the head of marketing resigned recently. 2 weeks later and she was out of the door. It's funny how something that companies can insist on so strongly can turn out to be not that necessary at all. However I'm fine with a normal month of notice, like, whatever you know. I just don't like feeling that I'm being squeezed like a lemon for every possible day that they can get out of me when I'm already cut off from a company inwardly.
