Calibrate Battery (HOW????????????)

cool man, am there now. One day I hope to have an Android phone and the only reason is because I like messing about with stuff like apps etc.

Hi Ockie

Oops, sorry. Ok, then try this, I've done it on my desire before, not sure about your phone, might work?

Please connect the phone to the charger with the phone powered on, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green, indicating the device is fully charged. Disconnect the phone from the charger, and power it off. Reconnect the phone to the charger with the phone powered off, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green. Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it on. Once the phone is powered completely on, power it off again and reconnect it to the charger until the notification LED is green. Disconnect the phone, power it on, and use it. You need to use this sequence only once.

Ok....I waited untill phone switched itself off. Then charged it to 100%. Did a factory reset. Will repeat tomorrow (without the reset) and see if it makes a difference. I really hope so. I cant sit with a phone that sits on 50% at 12 in the afternoon. Unacceptable behaviour!!! Bad Moto...very very bad Moto!!!! tsk

Ockie, you are currently focussing on recalibrating the battery, and that is good and necessary at times, but your problem may not be related to the calibration. Calibration only aligns the OS with the battery discharge "graph" and doesn't fix a bug/app/whatever that accelerates battery discharge. If a hardware or software glitch causes the faster than normal discharge that glitch must be fixed. Recalibration will only ensure that you get an accurate reflection of such an accelerated discharge.

Thank you BeVonk. I understand what you saying. The only thing that changed though was the new 2.2 ROM....all the apps stayed the same. My battery will die again soon so this will now be the second time I will be letting it run completely flat and then charging to 100% while phone is switched off. Hopefully after this it will be back to normal. *sigh*

Seems my battery is back to normal after two full discharge and full recharge (while phone is powered down) and a device reset after the first cycle. Took phone off charge this morning round 8 and it is now on 80%

So....do you miss the blackberry?

Erm...no....no anymore. The first two weeks I was hating the touch screen hey. The typos I was making was terrible. I could have really insulted some of my family if I did not double check before pressing enter...but now I am getting used to it. I do miss not being able to see if a message has been read or not on WhatsApp....but that really aint the end of the world. I do miss the better battery life on me Blackberry...but that too is is not such a big issue for me anymore.

I have fallen back in love with Motorola! HELLLLLLLOOOOOOOO MOTTOOOOOOO!!!!!

:-)

RE keyboard, I looooooove the voice to text.... but you can look silly when you "text" someone in public :)

OH FFS! The battery drain seems to be back again. charged battery to 100% last night...now it is on 50% again and I have not listened to the radio at all today!

I did do the device reset by going into privacy and doing a device wipe. Do you guys think a Hard Reset will sort it out? Must I do the hard reset when battery is 100% or does it not matter? Why is Android 2.2 so freakking harsh on me poor battery????? *cries*

When I look on the battery thingy it shows the following:

Mobile Standy - 48%
Phone Idle - 48%
com.motorola.service blah blah - 2%
Android System - 2%

So it is not even like there is a app running that is draining my battery.

That sounds like the new radio they used is more hungry than the one that was on it before.

Hmmm so I shouldn't upgrade my phone to 2.2 then

Sometimes they find that there was a problem with old radio's like droped calls or static. What could have happened is that they added code to clean this up and also boost the signal to sort out the issues. Problem is that this now consumes more battery power as well.

NOTE: I am not saying this is the case, I am saying it might be, it might also be that your battery "had sex" ie its F.....

Or the calibration went all haywire and needs to be taught a lesson or 2.

Urg....I had no problems with dropped calls with 2.1. Please advise me as to wether the battery should be 100% charged when doing the Hard Reset or does it not matter?
