Call-centre industry boost

INDIAN company the Essar Group yesterday announced that it would pump R500-million over the next three years into developing South Africa’s call- centre industry.

maybe they have a deal with TATA through Neotel to drop their call rates, which would then make it feasible...

This sounds promising.. Finally the dream of SA becoming a place for outsourced call centres may be happening. Let's hope guavamunt doesn't screw this up with some stupid piece of legislation.

The most likely hurdle that they will not be able to overcome as easily as in most other countries mentioned in the article, is that of our local Labour Law.

Our minimum wages makes local investment cost prohibitive.

If they can meet these requirements, then this is indeed very good news for our economy!
