Calling all Virtualization Gurus.

If they want to track my PC usage, then surely they can supply me with a company-issued PC, or give me a computer allowance so I can buy any PC that will fit their specs.

Only cheap companies will expect their employees to purchase computing equipment with their salaries and not assisting them financially in any way.

@OP - if I were you, document everything, keep your head low, find another job, and as soon as you're out of there, send all the documentation off anonymously to the Department of Labour...

Company also have a tracker app - but it is on company PC's, not on personal stuff.

Main use is to monitor that you really are working the hours you're booking, nothing else. With WFH the norm, that is the only non-invasive way company equipment usage can be monitored.

I agree 100%. but when you lose all administrator rights and all privlages as a User on your own equipment is where I draw the line.

Worst of all is highly paid security personel does not even know What I have done when looking right at it. Lets me think some people migh have misrepresented their CV's a bit.

Best is I click a X and everything is in suspended animation...I continue on the host like nothing is wrong. No one knows any better.

I've come to the conclusion that the OP is trolling. There is no way someone will just agree to this sort of horseshit and say "it is what it is".

He's either trolling, or there is some other thing going on about avoiding company spyware on equipment that may actually be company equipment for nefarious purposes.

I wish I was trolling. I had to buy a new Laptop that has virtualization support on the Processor in order to do this. and to have the system Specs carried over to the VM. Like I said. "comply or get lost."

I call BS

"hardware too old for dual boot"

"went into the dark web to see how to remove software"

I would hide the PC at parents' house, make them come to search for it at my house; or get an affidavit that says PC is my brothers etc etc

The thread was popcorn-worthy tho, thanks for that.

but the rest you typed, was all BS

so bought a new laptop, where booting from another drive was not cheaper?

What if they all of a sudden come and want software on your private phone? log your SMS, calls, whatsaap etc?
My facebook is locked that only family see pics.
Friends see my kak posts and if you not on any list, you see nothing!

Family member worked for a 70yr old dude that owns dairy farm out in East London.
The way he did stuff and controlled them was also absurd.Would deduct money, they must own tools. Is it the same company? o.O

Me and the It guy at work looked it. And duel boot was not an option due to the age of my previous laptop. and memory constraints for the New software.

so the IT guy at work know you looking into it?

Wont he then throw you under the bus for trying it?

So, keep the new laptop hidden and let them install the software on the old one?

Why still worry about VM etc then?

You could of told them you only have 1GB of ram and the software would not run, but your above statement again does not make sense:

When you boot into either of OS, full RAM is available for usage in that OS, it does not get shared :/

What actually is shared is storage on HDD/SDD where you store your OS data and other files, which is done by making partitions while installing OSs.

Calling BS on this. If you bought a new laptop just reformat you old machine and tell you **** head company to do their wortst

Yeah, the story unravels even further the more he "reveals"...
Well it is sorted. All their Crap kills an I5. Now there is no mic or Laptop cam for teams meetings. VM protects all my Settings and Privileges. and I can do whatever I want on my laptop without drawing attension as a bad empoloyee that does not want to co-operate. Boxes are Ticked.

What sort of spyware kills an i5? Even an old gen one?

Norton/Mcafee?
 It is a quad core I5 pushing all cores at 3Ghz. It is fast enough to do 3D designs and run Autocad. I was sure it could do some minor Text editing. Few Excel sheets, Power point. Mabe the odd word doc.

@Magnum we all curious to know the name of this dodgy company,
even myself I worked for the Nazis at one point, with their weird rules and leader knows best mentality,
dont question and obey you pleb, do what we tell you and dont dare ask questions.

lasted about 2 months before I ran away, with Ghosts of my Ancestors shouting at me,
didn't you learn anything in History class. wasn't the sacrifices we did good enough for you.

companies that do such dodgy things deserve to be named and shamed.
