Calling Cybersmart Users - Internet down?

Don't know bout you guys, but this morning my international has just disappeared. Intl websites don't load at all, some of them only load half-way. Am I the only one on cybersmart experiencing this today ? Its really starting to peeve me off and if they dont resolve this by end the of next week, I'm changing ISPs..

Maybe it's your PC that is the problem , or maybe its you.Dont always blame the ISP for your problems.U just make yourself look like a prick.

"Its really starting to peeve me off and if they dont resolve this by end the of next week, I'm changing ISPs" - this quote sums it up.U think u the shizz niz.

Sheesh, didnt know that was the type of response I'll get, some ppl have posted far more harsh posts than mine. There isn't anything wrong with my computer nor with my line. Using my IS account my ping is normal, using my cybersmart one it is double the latency. It's not necessary to say that I make myself look like a prick, you don't know me, so it isn't necessary making accusations like that, nor did I ever say I thought I was the shiz niz.Infact you're the prick for insulting me,ubercal.

I obviously wouldn't have posted something here if I didnt do some tests, but I'll take this matter up with Cybersmart myself seeing as I am getting nowhere here on the forums.

Or maybe you should read and you might be able to find out more than one person is having problems.

Sometimes i am getting timeouts, wasn't as bad as it was a few days ago. But cybersmart seem to have blocked hotmail. Some thing must be wrong, hasn't been like this before.

I really have had no problems - as for hotmail - its a sign - move away from Bill Gates and use Gmail, Firefox and Thunderbird :D

Only good thing about MS is Messenger, and only using it cos all my intl friends do  :p

I do actually use gmail and Firefox. ;)

Well, I have had problems with Cybersmart over the last week or so, and I spoke to a guy called Warren who ummmmed and uhhhhed and errrrmed and stammered his way through a pitiful excuse and ended up telling me to do speed tests, then blamed it on Telkom.

From what I can see from these forums, it is only Cybersmart customers experiencing these problems. One piece of information I was privvy to was the fact that they had moved a batch of accounts to a new server or something like that, couldnt really hear Warren properly with all the umms, and I am unable to use the Cybersmart cache to browse the net. I also dont get disconnected every 24 hours (just reset my connection now - its been up for 40 hours).

I am going to try speaking to someone with a bit of knowledge tomorrow. Wish me luck. And I am not buying that whole "anchor dragged through cable in Hong Kong" story as an excuse. Yes, I know it happened. But it is only supposed to affect North Africa and Middle East.

I havent been able to attend raids on WoW because of disconnections and lag for the last week and its starting to piss me off. Maybe it is time to change ISP, any good recommendations in the same price range as Cyberstupid?

A lot of people here have vouched for webafrica; but, I am not sure why you should not go for dobroadband #1 (R199/m)?? It costs the same as webafrica complete package. just saw a banner ad here on sainet, seems to offer the same rates as cybersmart

I think it's down to quality of service.
Yes Do prices is ok, just that I'd rather take my money to someone other than Telkom where possible (though they end up getting it anyway!). WA service in my experience is always good and everyone you speak to seems competent and trustworthy, which is light years ahead of Cybersmart reps.

If you're going to hire support staff they need to have knowledge and an interest in what they're doing. I thought going with the cheapest ISP was a good idea, turns out it's not. I pay a little more for WA but get much better support. As for DO and their support, I've got no experience with them

Thank You

Thank you so much for your support with webafrica, talking on a personal capacity, I really apreciate that customers are happy with our support, because we do work really hard to make your internet surfing a really great expierence. I hope that you will be a long devoted customer of webafrica, because i can guarantee that Web African's will be giving you there sweat to carry on supporting everyone to the best of there abilities :):)

Sigh, I'm really getting ticked off, most of my international sites give me timeout errors this evening. Can't open anything, and if it does, then it only loads half-way. Anyone else on cybersmart or saix based account, also suffering from this same dillema ?

I'm also getting errors, I disconnected then reconnected and it came right.

Did you get an email about a new user name? I did and it goes something like this [email protected]

Apparantly, that puts you onto a new route if you've been assigned it and for me it solved most browsing problems.

Hey Andy,

No I didnt get an email with regards to a new password. I didnt order my adsl via them, isnt the account name like that, if you ordered your dsl via them ?

I only have a normal 3GB account with them.

I just called them and got a new username, he said that the old username was blacklisted by SAIX, because someone signed up for a Cybersmart account and was using it for Spamming.

The Tech Support Guy also said that most users were automatically switched over to the "new network", but some accounts couldn't be automatically switced over and users will have to fone in to get a new username.

I do have my line with them. Maybe you should call and see if they will provide a new user name if your current one was not re-routed correctly

At the moment, I am suffering due to bad latency in World of Warcraft in the evenings. The problem is definitely Cybersmart. At least local latency is fixed as of yesterday, but I am curious to know if I should bother phoning them and seeing about getting my account moved to the new network, or if the international latency thing is a by-product of the Hong Kong cable fault / Cybersmart not having enough bandwidth.

Some opinions from peeps who arent with Cybersmart would be nice as well regarding the WoW latency (on EU realms).

Perhaps I could help by pinging the server to see what latency I'm getting on both my Cybersmart and WA shaped SAIX accounts? However, I don't play WoW so I can't help much more than pinging it through a DOS prompt. If you want, let me know the server IP's you're having trouble with.

Yeah I emailed them, and there is bandwith/routing troubles with my account. Just waiting for confirmation from them, then I am going to rename it, and hopefully my troubles will be over... :D

Now, as we can determine from this, it all looks fine, but it is not relevant to actual play, as once we start clearing trash in a 25 man raid, BAM my latency shoots up and I often disconnect. Quite frustrating, I am missing out on a lot of boss kills because of this.
