Will someone please setup a thread for everyone to vote. I cannot figure out how to set it up.

The best ISP for AFFORDABLE uncapped internet in SA is?:

1. Screamer ...or
2. DigiChilli ...or
3. SAOL

It's Axxess (by miles) if you have a 4meg line. Otherwise competition is a little stiffer

Are you talking about Axxess's R999, 384kb package that has a 5Gb 10 day rolling threshold??

How does this compare to Screamers R399 uncapped package???

Screamer & Digichilli are no go areas at the moment from all accounts I have read here. Hopefully they come right in future, choice is good.

Forget about the silly threshold. It is meaningless anyway.

The Axxess account runs at 192kbps for 60 hours of the week, and it runs at 4Mbps for the remaining 108 hours of the week. And it runs at those speeds reliably and consistently without fail.

I'm hoping to see something come along that gives better value for money. I haven't seen it yet.

That's why it's so good. You get line speed after hours.

Basically, you can download close to 900GB a month with the Axxess R999 deal but you'd struggle to get even 150GB with Chilli or Screamer. It is a lot more expensive when you factor in the 4meg line though.

So it all depends on how much you want to download:D

One more for Axxess. I know it is not the cheapest around in normal terms, but per GB it is by far the cheapest solution (if you have a 4mb line). In the afterhours window (8pm to 8am) I have been able to consistantly get about 17-18gb per day, and on weekend when it is on 4mb all the time, you can get about 33gb per day.

So if you have 4mb line, there are nothing that beats the Axxess Semi for value.

I shouldn't be advertising them because I don't want a million new customers competing for my bandwidth but Screamer Uncapped WiMAX accounts can't be beaten.

I paid R2400 once off for my installation and equipment and now pay R 1761 monthly for a 1Mb connection that ALWAYS connects faster than 1Mb. Because it's WiMAX I don't pay any ADSL line or phone fees either.

Digichilli does it for me, uncapped with a guaranteed min of 256kbps. I especially like the fact that you cool down your account any time you want to, which gives me flexibility to not have to pay for internet that I am not using when I am away on holiday.

AXXESS FTW........4096k after hours and Weekends.....who else has this as cheap as Axxess?

What about someone who doesn't download, but only wants to use it for 1st person gaming and browsing?

TelkomInternet Do3 - 5 GB Blended and 30 GB Local, no tricks or fly by night service levels. U pay for quality!

LOL...read the DigiChilli posts. There is noone getting 256k guaranteed and from the look of your posts you must work for them and that is the only way you get these speeds.

My Screamer WiMAX connection gets me about 50 to 60ms local ping and about 250 to 300 international which is pretty good for gaming. You should then select the broadband package you want for your browsing.

SAOL has been a real pleasure! 384k uncapped, averaging over 35kbps downloads on either torrents or http, no drops in the connection, full ADSL account including my ADSL line rental for R499!

Plus they've given me the most brilliant customer support ever!!!

Openweb

Also still best option for me except price has been the same for well over a year (im with openweb), I think the price needs to be lowered though.

Afrihost - started the change and working solidly for most. Even though no uncapped, for now. But, out of the list, by the sound of things SAOL is the only one delivering what they promise (I can vouch that DC isn't) so would have to say them by default. :p

+1

I would give my money to SAOL or Cybersmart at this space in time ;) (It's essentially the same product)

Real uncapped & unshaped.
