Camera on a plane

I'm not sure what set it is but don't forget to check out Adorama and B&H's used section. Looking though it I saw some really good deals.

Oh, and stop thinking in rands. Also have a look at what the airline will charge you for excess luggage.

Will have a look, thanks.

Hard to do for now since we are going with rands. Once we start earning dollars I'll be able to forget about rands.

I had a look at the extra baggage on Emirates and I remember it being +-$100 per bag. We can take 4 bags checked between the two of us and we are taking very little. So should be plenty.

One of the guys at Outdoorphoto told me one of the guys there once flew with a 1D and 600 F4 around his neck. I don't know if they would actually allow it but the guy promised me it was true.

I've done it with a 1D and 400 f/2.8. Once my carry-on was reweighed it went right back in. I also bought a hand trolly just for dragging it though airports. You can only make 18+kg look light for so long. :D

I just bought a bag as well - R650.00 :( But it works.

I wanted a circular polarizer filter as well but wow, they're expensive ! Some of these things are like R2,000 .... you can get a cheap lens for R2,000!

On that subject - Kenko isn't fab, right?
But Hoya is alright?

I've given the filter a skip this month, but maybe next month I should take the plunge

Tokina, Hoya and Kenko are the same company. The filters are sold in Japan only under the Kenko name, although they do get exported elsewhere. The rest of the world generally has Hoya, and Tokina is the parent company.
