You definitely do not want it in your luggage! If you do that you might as well hand it over to the first person you see at the airport.
He said hand luggage. Which is fine.
The only time cameras are a hassle is when it comes to weight. Worse comes to worse you wear it around your neck until they've weighed your bag.
I can just imagine you rocking up with your pro body and 400/600 around your neck![]()

What's a lot of gear?I am moving to the US around June/July and I have a lot of gear that has to go with. Weight will be an issue but I refuse to check the gear in.
Any idea how I can maybe handle it? My wife has very little that cannot be checked but I am worried the weight might be a bit much even split between 2 people.

Not sure if I'm forgetting something. Most of it goes into relatively little space, but it's heavy. The laptops alone without any bags or chargers are already 5kg. Will likely fly with emirates which gives just 7Kg per person. I think that laptop bag is excluded. Will ask the wife to take a big handbag as well, might help.
I'd wear the bodies and some of the heavier lenses and cram my pockets with whatever else would put me over but only as a last resort.
Are the studio lights compatible with the 110-120v we use in the states? Either way I'd sell them and buy over there.
I'm not sure what set it is but don't forget to check out Adorama and B&H's used section. Looking though it I saw some really good deals.Yes they are. Think they can handle 90-270v. Will just have to get a new set of power cables. Bought the kit before the rand tanked. Got it for around R13k(Was slightly discounted). If I had to replace from B&H at the current exchange rate I would be looking at around R24k. So worth it to take it with
