So I see Dionwired are evertising the Canon powershot SX210 for around R2800. It's looks like a really nice little compact. Any view/suggestions of alternatives..?

Camera recommendations

Canon makes good cameras so you cant go wrong in purchasing one. The specs of the PowerShot SX210 look very good. I would, however, prefer to get a camera which uses normal AA batteries rather than the Li-ion which is expensive to replace or get a spare one. Also in a few years time it might be difficult to get the battery as newer models come on the market.

Ive had my current canon P&S for nearly 4 years. They do last if you look after them. You make a good point about the batteries. Will have to look into that.
