For use in an internet cafe. Is it possible and is it wise. Instead of all ethernet cable everywhre I was thinking of buying low cost dongles and connect that way.

Any advice?

whether or not hey can all connect, you are asking for a major headache. Go with the cables rather. That way you can isolate which machines cannot connect and why they cannot connect.

Remember that all users connecting to a WAP share the bandwidth - connecting 50 will be really slow. You will need to get more APs....

Edit - or use wires...

No ways, wireless rocks.. and yes 50 people will be able to connect to 1 AP but that wud be a horrible experience :p

...or you can put the desktop PC's on wired, and the laptops on wireless.

But wired will be best. I'm having issues with our AP at the moment.

If you used WiFi "N" (300Mbps), it may work OK, but then the dongles will cost more, and you will definitely have more hiccups.

Wired may give you the least trouble.

For sharing a fishbone type bonded connection, the speed of the internet will still be much slower than the wireless. ~1%

I reckon you could share it via wireless. Maybe have two Wireless routers for redundancy.

dongles will get stolen

Wired all they way.. then allow people who brind thier own laptops to use wireless
