I have a Telkom Mega 105WR router and was wondering if a better router would reduce my latency and improve my gaming experience. I have a 4meg line by the way.

It indeed can change your latency, but not by much. Even with a good router and a decent embedded OS, you shouldn't expect anything more than a 5ms decrease in latency.

Using good quality network interfaces such as the Killer NIC will improve your gaming experience. I would look at improving your system's configuration first before spending any hard earned cash on upgrades, you might be surprised at the performance boost.

Happy gaming ;)

There is no way in hell that it would improve your latency... unless there was something wrong with the old router. Ping your router, it should be like 1ms, if its more then possibly there is something wrong with your router.

COMPUTEK, that is a BROADBAND router, not an ADSL router. You would have to use that in conjunction with an existing ADSL router. Also, it would only provide a better latency than other routers when your connection is being utilized by other services too while you're playing games. ... that's what QoS is for and it won't make a difference at all if nothing else is using the connection.

Yes, it would be useful and faster for when you're sharing an Internet connection, but I can't see how a router can make the latency lower.
