Can anyone explain telkom bill?

Hi everyone..

I've had adsl for just under a month now (never had a telephone before either).

On my first bill from telkom it shows a 'Rental' fee of R782.64 (incl vat)

I'm on a 4mg line.

This doesn't make any sense, I should be paying R131 (line rental) + R413 (adsl rental) which adds up to R544.

Any ideas what it could be?

Sounds like you have a Closer plan loaded

Telkom Charge ADSL rental for the month you install, and one month ahead. Althought unless they charged your pro-rata for this month, the bill does not add up.

Ok now that I remember I didi take closer plan 1 but that is only like R10 - R15 more: not R230 more.

My ISP is someone else.

If you signed up recently: It will be TWO MONTHs.

In short: November + December together.

Here's some tips to see the detail:

Go into the Telkom site, i assume you can view your invoice there?
(It would be My Accounts -> Billing [left side] -> Click on the invoice

Once you drilled into the invoice:

Click on the "Detailed Invoice" Menu on top -> THEN -> The top menu will change --> click on "Phone book Detail"

Yes the menu item is rather misleading, but just click there. You'll see it nicely detailed exactly what you are paying.

I can now view the exact details.

Yes they did charge me for november + december, but only pro-rata for november so that explains the odd amount.
