Can BlackBerry be saved?

Nope. Everything they touch turns to s**t. They had several chances to redeem themselves but dropped the ball every time.

Agreed. They won't be saved. There is, however, just one more way out for BlackBerry to continue, and that is if a financially strong company buys it out, spend some time on developing and improving their current infrastructure, design a whole new range of modern consumer-demanded phones that can absolutely compete with the iPhone, Galaxy and other devices. They need to open up their operating system platform and yet still even offer these new services and equipment at very, very low prices or even free.

If this does not happen, I just foresee some company taking it over, change the branding, closing down some services and converting some free services into paid services, which will in any event die down a few years down the line.

Blackberry is dead long live nobody. everything will die of eventually be it the iPhone, Android and even Windows one day they all will be gone

There are only 2 ways I can see Blackberry having any relevance in the future. Either they ditch BB10 and run a skinned/forked version of Android with their apps and services directly integrated into the software. This gives them access to an App Store, makes it easier for developers to create apps for their platform and allows them to focus on the details and hardware. This could work as it allows consumers access to the Android ecosystem and can also serve enterprises which is BB's speciality.

The second option is that it becomes a service provider and starts giving other companies tailored versions of their enterprise and other software. The way I see this working is if Microsoft (about the only company who might be interested) leverages BB to provide better integration and services with their enterprise offerings.

Other than that I am not sure I see a future for them. They will lose if they let their OS go open as they will be killed on the hardware front and they will struggle to compete and differentiate themselves in the market if they choose Android or any other OS and attempt to become a hardware company.

It will stay alive barely. It will still sell in South Africa and Nigeria.

Good riddance to rubbish

/fondles iPhone

BlackBerry would have been saved instead of them spending millions/billions on a new operating system they should've gone android route and see if they could shine but as always under the hood BlackBerry hardware wasn't always the best or their OS was way too buggy with the hour clock spinning and taken over 10minutes to boot which I found quiet irritating.

BIS(BlackBerry Internet Service) was actually their selling point at the time but once they decided to discontinue that or give people choices if they wanted to opt in for BIS or rather use service provider data. That is one of their biggest failure. Now the market is flooded with handset people won't probably buy rather sell them at cost price.

BB and Nokia would both have been going strong and profitable at this point if they had adopted android. I would personally have taken a Nokia android phone over a samsung because I prefer the design. I know many users who would love an android phone with a hardware keyboard which BB could have done very well with.
