Can I get some internets please?!

Does DFA not run the fibre for the likes of Frogfoot etc?
It depends.

You as a home user will be farting against thunder contacting DFA.

In some instances, FNO's like Frogfoot (don't know their business too well) or SADV or whoever will buy a backhaul link on a DFA line. Mostly, we avoid that and self provision to manage costs. DFA links are expensive, and you need a certain number of endpoints to justify a business case.

An FNO like Vuma as practically zero backhaul on DFA.

What that means is that just because there is a DFA line running some few 100 meters from your residence doesn't mean that any FNO has plans to build your suburb, and no FNO will build only to your house - due to aforementioned business case, whether self provisioned or DFA backhaul.

As an aside, the DFA line you mention may already be a customer build - meaning it belongs to a GSM operator, or a business further along it somewhere, which means even if an FNO looks at your suburb, that line will not be available to them.

Thanks, more understanding for me. Never intended to try contacting DFA personally, just noting that there is fibre already laid in the area. I understand the part about the number of endpoints needed for a business to be justify the purchase of backhaul. Just looking for an ISP to take the leap and look at the phoenix area for rollout.

On other news, 5G from rain seems like a horrible option considering all the issues fellow members on the forum are having. We know that MTN and VODA are testing, lets hope that they can offer something soon.

You need to look for an FNO, not an ISP.

My suggestion would be to get the community involved and get everyone to register interest in the Vumatel website.

(I can only speak for Vuma on how to move forward. I don't know how other's would garner interest for this)

I think I'll have to get some posters etc printed and placed up. maybe some flyers made, with a contact point for the residents to get more info. I have seen the Vuma process, just the scope of work seems exhausting for me. I need to find some minions to do the footwork for me.

Use your existing community whatsapp groups as well.
