Can I rely on Gautrain for work?

It's all very reliable, unless the train has a 50min delay due to stolen cables or the buses aren't running due to some strike.

Welcome to Africa..

Get to Sandton station... bus depot's been blocked off. Have to ****ing Uber @R60 to get here. R60 back this afternoon. If I had known this beforehand I would've taken the car.

I took the car anyway this morning; this is South Africa and we don't do namby-pamby strike actions.:D

Would've taken the car as well had I been able to read the future. But obviously we had no idea that the buses would be affected before getting on. Every notice/mail indicated that buses would be operating as normal.

It's apparently striking workers who are preventing busses from leaving depots.

Although early communications from Gautrain seemed to indicate that buses would be operating, the wording of their "contingency plan", when it finally emerged late afternoon Sunday, left some doubt as to what they actually meant.

I followed the questions and answers which followed on social media, and it clarified that only peak hour buses were going to be running.

Since I take off-peak, mostly to avoid being squashed, I decided to Peugot it instead.

I didn't actually foresee the blockade of the buses, although we could've expected it I suppose.

Now being told that due to interference from striking workers, there will be no buses at all from Sandton at any time today.

Also got the app notification a bit earlier. Kinda screws with my plans of getting home
