Hi all

I cant bare the fact anymore that i miss all the sports on DSTV so i will get me DSTV....and i want it by the weeknd also :) As a setup i want dual view with PVR but not now...for starters i just want DSTV in my house. Can i just get a standard decoder, dish and installation hey? What decoder must i get?

Any places that have a special on ATM?

Any special decoder i must get as i want to get the PVR in 2 months maximum - i can get the PVR later on hey?

Pls help guru's...:o

Can upgrade later, but to make it plug and play, ask the installer for the correct number of cables for the PVR, and only use the one cable for now. I'd get the 1110 (the cheapest).

i'm no guru, but in the meantime you can get the DSD1110 at R399 (as advertised in Sunday's papers). The non-HD PVR is no longer for sale (you'd have to look at 2nd hands if you want that kind of dual view). But if you go HD PVR you can use your single view for extraview when you do go for the HD PVR. Your installation will have to be redone when you go (HD) PVR.

Thx man, ok i'll ask the installer. Just asked a colleague at work if he knows about an installer and he said to do it myself:eek: is it that easy?

If i have R1500, will it be enough for everything or would i need more cash

O, ok, didn't know that you'de have to redo installation when going PVR. Yes, i would get the HD PVR in a month or 2 seeing that SD PVR is so difficult to get

How much extra is the dish? The R399 or R499 that shops advertised is obviously not the dish and installation included

Didn't read the fine print, but if you are lucky it includes a free installation voucher :). Makro are best for these packaged deals.

You dont need to redo installation, just ask for 2 cables from the start.

There's no specific decoder i should or should'nt get hey....bare in mind that i want ti "upgrade" later...is the 1110 fine?

I recently did a HDPVR install. You can now get a SATCR LNB with two cables. One cable if you're just using the HDPVR, and one cable if you want an extra decoder for Xtraview. The HDPVR beeds four cables, but with the SATCR LNB it combines the four streams down one cable. Neat installation ... better than having four cables to the back of your machine. Best get the SATCR one time (cost R 950). I also put in an aluminium dish 90 cm for R 680 (dish and bracket).

So JayN, based on your figures if i go SATCR will my total cost be R950 + R650 + R400 (for a 1110) which comes to R2000. Will i have to pay the technician also hey - assume so

You will have to pay for the technician's time as well as cabling.

Thanks, got hooked up with a tech in my area and he's pricing is quite good, so i'll have DSTV tommorrow :D:D:D

One month. Trust me. ONE month, and then you will tear your freakin hear out. Because month 2 will have EXACTLY the same stuff on as month 1. What type of sports will you be watching?

No i wont Blixempie as i had DSTV when i stayed with my in-laws for 2 years. I'm watching rugby and cricket mainly and if you dont have DSTV you dont get to watch ANY sporting events

I also watch National Geographic, Discovery, the Animal channels, KykNet, my wife wathes movies and most of all my kid enjoy the cartoons...

...o yes i watch TBN and Gods TV...so as you can see lots to watch

Good luck with the installation and please update us on how it goes.

The only reason I have DSTV Premium is live sport. The rest of the stuff I download off the net.
