I discovered a packet of fresh white button mushrooms in my fridge but the 'use by' date was on the 23d of June. Today is the 30th. Can I still use it. My fridge is colder than the fridges at PnP.

It is more about the appearance of the said mushrooms than the sell by date! Are they still WHITE button mushrooms or have they gone dark. If they have they will not taste as good any more.

I ate it with bacon and spaghetti. I fried the diced bacon first and then I fried the mushrooms quite long and well in the fat of the bacon.

Very easily if they are stored correctly. The "sell by" and "use by" dates are indications. Moreso, the dates are always intentionally early so that the supermarkets and producers can cover their own asses...
Plus, there's a difference between "Sell by" and "Best before".
