I discovered a packet of fresh white button mushrooms in my fridge but the 'use by' date was on the 23d of June. Today is the 30th. Can I still use it. My fridge is colder than the fridges at PnP.

Feel them - if they have gone slimy then don't use them - if they are dry and still firm, then they're fine...
"Discovered" ... do you have such a big fridge? Do you not clean it out regularly?

Very easily if they are stored correctly. The "sell by" and "use by" dates are indications. Moreso, the dates are always intentionally early so that the supermarkets and producers can cover their own asses...
They still look the same as when I bought them.
