can one boost wimax signal

hi people well telkom still cannot give me a answer on installing phone lines in our road and then i had the wimax people at my place they just could not get enough signal my neighbour around the corner has it but for some reason the signal is not enough at my place is there anyway i can increase the strength ?

I'm not intimately familliar with WiMax in particular, but generally speaking for wireless networking, a higher gain directional antenna would be your best bet - try get hold of a better antenna than the one Telkom did their tests with. The key factor, though, is Line-Of-Site... so you need to be able to 'theoretically' see the tower you're connecting to. It might also be a good idea to get a longer pole on your roof if that would help...

Some kind of satellite dish would presumably be your best option. If you have a Weber braai lid handy you could do a simple test by placing the lid behind the WiMAX antenna and monitoring the signal strength.
