I am trying my 2GB CellC Sim card in a new HTC Android phone.

Currently, I can only connect to the www.cellc.co.za website, every other website just times out.

A *101# balance check confirms I have a small airtime balance and 1402.80 MB of data remaining.

What gives?

As Base122 asked does you sim work in your modem ?
If it does then it got to do with setting on your phone.
dial *147# and request data settings.
what HTC device do you have ?
If does not work in your modem sim card could me faulty.

If I can browse the CellC website it means that data it getting from the device to the base station to the CellC web server, so it can't be the phone.

what HTC device do you have ?

HTC Wildfire

If does not work in your modem sim card could me faulty.

As above, if I can connect to the cellc website but nowhere else, then it's unlikely to be the phone or the sim card. The connection is being blocked on the CellC network somewhere

Just as a matter of interest, my Cell C HTC phone on a 197.x IP address has suddenly lost all data connectivity.
About to reconnect and check again....

Edit 10:16
Reconnected on a 41.x address and all ok again.
Tried several times to connect on a 197.x address again without any luck.

Work going on on the network perhaps?
Might be related to the "unable to load certain websites" thread?

Not sure if this is related to your problem Deenem.
Maybe reboot the phone and try again a bit later?

I have an idea that Cell C are going with an interim "quick fix" solution to the WhatsApp, Gtalk, Gmail delays and access to certain websites issue dependent on 41.x vs. 197.x IP ranges as discussed in the relevant threads, by simply not allocating any 197.x IP addresses.

I have been unable to get a 197.x address for a while now, effectively "solving" those two problem issues.
