I've got 3 ADSL technicians here trying to fix our line, and they are telling me it's a national problem that other people are having (with PPPoE connections taking 20 to 30 seconds to initialise, instead of the usual 3 to 5). Can someone check to see how quickly there connection gets created after disconnecting?

Thanks! I don't want them to leave blaming it on a different department and opening a call with that department.

When i first got adsl, it took in maybe 5 seconds. Lately it takes a little longer, probably around 20 seconds.

Artagra, it's happens to me as well.

And I just got the line *today*. Even the Telkom Techie was stumped. thought it was my Router that was doing it.

Mmmm - ok, so is anybody with this problem in the Rosebank/Linden/Aasvoelkoep areas?

And by this problem I mean delayed authentication, problems connecting, slow responses, etc

I'm just getting a Delayed Authentication though.

I'm in the Rosettenville/South of JHB Area

MmmmmMMmmmm. Mine is still causing plentiful issues, and no-one from Telkom seems to be able to find the route of the problem.

Gotta say I'm impressed with Telkom - they've at least been trying - had 5 different technicians at my house today. Hopefully they fix it tomorrow!

Pta here and mine also takes ages to authenticate. This week it seems to be about 60sec (although I still need to time it)

Seems fine here, Rosebank area. But still awaiting Telkom to activate ADSL on a new line installed here... 11 days late after saying order completed

Mine is about 30-60 seconds. Line attenuation is excellent and so is the SNR margin.
I don't mind that it takes so long - it only happens when the power goes out. The rest of the time the router stays on and connected.
