Today I called Telkom up to cancel my grand ma line, still in her name, but she is 84 and it is never
In working order, so the lady answer the phone I ask her I want to cancel a line, I giver her the number she ask me if she can speak to (name of account holder) I tell her she can’t ,she is 84 years old and can’t even sign nor speak English but I do have her ID with me she said no she needs to speak to her or she will fax me a document that she needs to sign but THE phone line is never even working so how will u fax it, she said then she doesn’t know. And my grand ma can’t even sign anymore

So I hanged up

Can anyone help me how can I get it cancled now

PS sorry I am afrikaans

Yeah, the "account holder" rule is kind of strict. Your best bet would be to take your grandmother to a Telkom shop.
If you're lucky, they will let you swop her in for a new model too :p

IF it is only that easy its 400 KM to nearst telkom shop

maybe i should ask some women in there 60 to call them up with her id nr :(

Get yourself a fax to email number, fill in the form, fax it back using the office fax or go to your nearest shop with fax facilities. Easy?

You should have reported the non working line ages ago - you can get credit back when a line does not work.

that is the thing u report it then the tec comes out he says he does not have the parts to fix it then he sign the fault off

I told telkom that they said well they will raport it again

the thing is my grand ma needs to sign or else i would have done it myself

You cannot cancel a phone line at a Telkom Shop anymore.

Telkom and the majority of their employees are a bunch of idiots.

I agree, just get a woman to speak on the phone, hell even you can do it. I don't think they will know the difference.

I cancelled my ADSL line during December 2011 and the line went dead on 28/12/2011. Until today they deduct R130 for data every month which I can't use as there is no line.
They even send me daily e-mails stating the availability of 10 GB of data. I am on them every week but to no avail, the following invoice has the item on it again.

Every month they send me an SMS that the overpayment will be rectified on the following invoice.

Four months to cancel a service and nothing changes. WTF !!

Dude similar thing happened to me, They suggested I call the ADSL people and cancel the account, and then lodge a dispute with the account department.

Good luck!

You do realise that telkom data (ISP) is different form telkom the line provider? You need to cancel each individually.

That's precisely what I have done and the line was cancelled immediately. The data part is contacted weekly as to my original post, but doesn't get solved even after getting confirmation that it will be corrected with he next invoice for the past three months.

are you asking for a cancellation and a refund at the sametime?

try getting a refund first. then as soon as that goes through remind them the account has been cancelled before thery must kill it please. Ask them when is your invoice date then you can telephonically check the very next day as to the status of the account.
