Your car is tiny though that also helps.

yip, always struggled with figuring out exactly what distance something is from me, I almost always over or under estimate it.
problem is parallel parking is tough, I had to do it a bunch of times and then was still terrible at it,

I must be the only guy here with that problem.

yeah, bu still if you bump a truck, especially a army truck nobody cares,
if you bump a regular car made mostly of plastic, things break and cost a fortune.

also I bet you had plenty of practice at it.
 
What is the rule when parallel parking wrt vehicles behind you, how do you indicate to them that they must give you space to pull in?

So many times, I slow down, put on my indicator before I approach the bay, then overshoot, immediately engage reverse, and low and behold, the guy behind me is on my ass..

Please don't tell me hazards..
 
I can parallel park.
With music playing.
At full volume.
7 brandy and cokes down.

But parking straight.. into a straight bay especially in reverse I cannot get the car to be straight lol. Its always at an angle. I don't understand it, it should be much easier lol...

We have a toxic road culture. That's the problem.
 
Took my eldest for driving lesson on Sunday (she has learners and super keen to drive).
1h later she was done... leg was sore from pushing clutch in and she has decided parallel parking is "not fun".

Surprisingly no chirps since then regarding my driving :-)
 
My wife struggles with this, I've been saying I will show her for years, just never got to it.

:unsure: WRONG! :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

I'd have been in so much kakkas had I did that, especially without the necessary SADF licence! I only got my civilian driver's licence towards the end of my National Service and an R-licence (SADF vehicle licence)almost two years later whilst doing a weekend camp.

Furthermore, if you bump any smaller vehicle with a truck the damage is far worse than just a bumper-bashing.
 
My parallel parking skills peaked about 1 day before my driving test and then slowly atrophied from there. A stint living in the CTN City bowl revived it, but it has now faded to the point where I just look for another parking. And that's when I'm in a car. 90% of my daily transport is on 2 wheels.

That's why I drive a small car as I live in the city. Any kind of parking is easy in a car sized for the city.

Always chuckle at people in huge SUVs struggling to manoeuvre in a 'normal' parking lot. Like the person in a fck-off big 4-door Rubicon in Constantia Village the other day. It was like watching this 👇
