Can you stream in 4K?

I'd even dispute that 0.8% because mobile broadband, while having the potential to be fast (e.g. LTE) probably isn't all that suitable for streaming 4K content. You'd finish any data cap you had in a day.

Not surprising if you ask me, our average download and upload speeds in RSA are no where near impressive.

The best speed in my area is 10Mbps on ADSL, ALL mobile networks have shocking coverage at my place :(

I'm just starting to get used to stable 480p. I stream 720p when I try to be fancy and show off to people.
4mb/s line :(

4K streaming in SA? Maybe my grandkids one day.

I stream 4k all the time. 40MB DSL.

Its coming to the rest of SA....

Also tested it on the Telkom fibre offering. 100Mb/sec.

I call BS on these results...
UAE is NOT below SA surely.
FTTH is not uncommon in UAE.

Its coming to the rest of SA....

Yes but when? At this point the answer appears to be "when hell freezes over". Maybe the cooling effect will improve signal speed over what's left of our copper cables ;-)

Most of us can't even stream 1080p. Forget about 4k any time soon...

The only thing smaller than that percentage is the percentage of people that care about 4K

... just from your comment, I can gather Apple has nothing that can use / support it yet

The question should be:

Can you sit 1m from your 50" in order to gain any benefit from 4K?

+1

More like 2m actually.

For the average person like me who sits about 2.5m from the screen, there won't be any benefit to upgrading from 1080p to 4k without significantly increasing the screen size...

IMO 1080p is enough anyway. Not many can afford the 4k screens yet so why even bother with streaming it
