Exactly, and if the criminals want in they will get in. With or without guns or knives
 
I think the thinking is that this makes entry more difficult so only more desperate criminals need apply. But I wonder if that really works out this way in real life, and if these desperate criminals are not more dangerous at the end of the day.

It will be an early warning system. At the moment they only know the robbery is happening as they hit the store. With gun control at the door, they might not stop them gaining entry to the mall but they can alert the police/armed response right away.

These heists rely on the fact that they can get in and out fast before real response can get there.

Who knows perhaps making malls a gun free zone will actually make them better ?

I doubt it'll take them two hours to rob the mall. The cops will still be on lunch by the time the criminals leave.
 
Canal Walk should be charged with robbery.

Their parking prices are ridiculous. :erm:

As far as I am aware(and any legal oke can correct me) but the mall does not have the authority to tell you its a gun free zone.

The only gun free zones are government establishments.

I personally dont adhere to these signs as I value my life more than a mall cop trying to tell me other wise.

Its private property.

They can make it a pink dilldo zone if they want.

It's private property and I'm not saying you're wrong but Paul will probably say that a private property with an open access to the public, despite "right of admittance reserved" signs is different to a private residence, where you may enforce your will (within what's legal that is).

The legal term gun free zone or firearm free zone as per the Firearms Control Act, is currently on hold and not in effect.

There are government buildings that are regulated as above but according to the CONTROL OF ACCESS TO PUBLIC PREMISES AND VEHICLES ACT.
Private property, such as malls and the likes, are private property and you can restrict access to any person.

Agreed - restrict access to any PERSON.
But you can't make it a firearm free zone until you comply with the act -secure discharge area and safes at the entrances, searching (or metal detecting) everyone that comes in, etc etc
 
Gun free zone means no Handguns, but rifles are OK?
Jokes aside, this isn't going to deter criminals at all.
 
Have there been any robberies in Grand West Casino? Because they have a strict no firearms policy. They also have money. And they're near Canal Walk. So one can compare them to see what effect a strict no firearms policy may have.
