Can someone tell me the correct person to speak to in order to cancel early?

Thanks

Thanks VodacomData : I've just contacted them :

R1,732.00 for my TopUp with 7 months remaining
R4,004.00 for my BB100 with 12 monthe remaining

So almost R6,000.00 to cancel because Vodacom doesn't provide a service in my area? Along with the R1,350.00 cancelation paid 2 months ago for the same reason.

Surely Vodacom has something they can do about this?! It's not fair to charge so much when it's you that can't provide a service

@Dolby - I feel sorry for you but wish point out a few important points namely;
1) Prevention is better than the cure by applying the oldest principal of "Caveat Emptor" (Let the buyer beware) before entering into any contract.
2)Remember that any saleman will try to sell you "ice in winter" it is up to you apply your wits and think before signing on the dotted line.
3) It is a commonly known fact that ALL NETWORKS and their franchise shops are there to sell phones and contracts.
4) The CPA is not there to protect consumers against ALL the blunders.

A blunder?

I've had Vodacom for years - and I moved house a few months back with a dead signal.

I don't care about paying for the device monthly - but there should be some clause to cancel the service alone. If I pay R350.00pm and R100.00 is towards the subsidy, charge me the R100.00pm and cancel the service they can't provide.

I see an issue with locking a client into a contract whereby a service is not provided - and then charging almost R8,500.00 to get out of the service they cannot provide.

Then I needed to sign with another provider in order to get my data.

PS I live in Johannesburg ; a 3G/HSDPA signal is supposed to be almost guaranteed, yet I battle with even EDGE

Alhough I see the point Ivanr is making, I agree with Dolby

I have been a client of VC for over 7 years. Six moths ago I renewed my cellphone contract and started a new data contract, both with VC.

Over the last 3 months my connection has deterioated to such an extent, I am thinking of canceling the contract, at least the data contract (lucky it is only for 12 months) and moving to a different supplier.

Just to make this post I have had to refresh the connection three times already as it keeps on timing out. This has been dragging on for over a month now. I am currently waiting for a Data Specialist to contact me, but that has not happened yet.

I am prepared to pay for the device they provided, but I will not pay for a data service they can not provide, and I will invoke the CPA and go to court if required.

Anyone successfully got out a contract?

After the past few days with the CPA, I've realised it doesn't work.

It's difficult to reach anyone or actually do anything succesfully and seems to be limited to threatening with the words 'CPA'. I reckon no one is really scared of the CPA. However :

Anyone succesfully got out a contract either using/not using the CPA?

Not without coughing up.
They won't let you out because it means everyone where you live can do the same.

Well surely if there is a huge dead area in JHB - they should rather attend to fixing the problem?

And paying R1,732 to end a R135.00pm contract (R810.00 if I leave it running) is simply totally unreasonable.

Dear Dolby

I have inquired when the new site that was built is going to be transmitting. This should resolve your network problem and you won't have to cancel.

Interesting solution. Where is this new site, out of interest?
