No.

Definitely not.

Unless you assassinated the president or something similar, there's no way that Vodacom would go through all that effort. And I don't think you can even do anything illegal on MXiT, let alone SERIOUSLY bad.

Relax, dude, you're stressing over nothing.

Dude they after you. Mxit is gonna summons Vodacom and force your number out. Then they can trace all your previous calls, sms' and internet/wap activity on that number, the phone IMEI number and the IMSI number you send out without knowing it.

(An International Mobile Subscriber Identity, or IMSI [im-zee], is a unique number that is associated with all GSM and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network mobile phone users. The number is stored in the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM). It is sent by the mobile phone to the network and is also used to acquire other details of the mobile in the Home Location Register (HLR) or as locally copied in the Visitor Location Register. )

They can also use the more efficient and up to date version of the "Look4Me" service offered by Vodacom and can track a user with a very close proximity (few meters).

Also your phone doesn't need to be on. They can traceback your location for the past 6 weeks (if I remember correct) and if you were using your sim inside your house they will see the same location appear at least 85% of the time then obviously they got were you work/live.

I would run for my fcuking life if i was you. Dunno what you did but you pretty much screwed dude...

Sorry xD

Maybe we could get a reward for turning him in? Lemmie go speak to admin quick and get his IP and trace his location. I could do with a couple of quick bucks. My adsl account this month broke the bank. Dude pm where you live, I will help you, I swear!

If the said sim was in any phone at any given time.

All the Cellphones that the sim was in can be traced. Even if the phone is off. ;) The network keeps trace of all the phones (IMEI) numbers with any given SIM. If that sim was in a phone 2 years ago and you still using the said phone that phone can be traced. Saying that it still has a battery in it.

Network reports can also trace the location from where a said conversation took place by time and *triangulation /spelling

Switching off the phone doesn't cut the power completely. Even removing the battery the phone still has power for a set period. Ever wondered how it's possible to change sim cards but the date and time is still on there.... makes u think hey. If you catching on shyt don't ever have a cellphone close to you. ;)

In short if you harrased someone from your house... ur screwed.
if u killed someone and then phoned someone for what ever reason from the crime seen ur screwed.

Think about a guy that killed a College girl a while ago :)

Best advise.. run bru run.

Serious I'm not joking

He is joking. If a phone is off, it is off. There is no residual power.
Also, the networks don't look at this stuff unless something serious has happened (murder+court order). By default the IMEI is not sent as far as I know. Even then, if your phone isn't registered then what are you worried about.
So, get real. Stop worrying. Don't do it again, and all will be well.;)

I was doing a project on this... as far as I know the IMEI is sent, else they wouldnt be able to black list your phone....

...and they'll know where you were when you turned your phone off...

Guys, they keep records of every phone call you've made in the last ~2 years. That includes originating MSISDN, terminating MSISDN, IMSI, IMEI, the originating & terminating cell (tower), call duration, reason for termination (fault details)... They can check which cell (tower) was used during the last call(s), but they can definitely not do triangulation afterwards.

But as I said before, this info is classified and you'll need a warrant to gain access to it. So stop worrying!

Actually they only keep records of phone calls and smsses for 6 months (as far as I know).

Someone I used know was suspected of murder, but nothing could be proved. They couldn't even get a court order for her telephone records, because Vodacom wouldn't comply. So there was nothing they could do, and the person is still walking free.

So stop worrying! What ever you've done, it has to be very bad before anyone will come after you.
