I don't mean to be facetious here, but I think it should be said.

Instead of spending hours on the phone, driving around joburg testing speeds, pleading with sentech to fix the problem, making web sites, enduring their lawyers and so on, why not just CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT and use dialup until iBurst launches?

It makes better sense... after 10 months, Sentech has not made much progress and has treated us all like cr ap. So let's cancel the contracts we entered into en masse - they've let a few people do it, if they don't let EVERYONE do it it's discrimination.

What do you all say?

Sorry, dialup is not a 24/7 option for me. Nor is ADSL, thanks to a little bit of fibre optic between me and the exchange. My year contract will last until May next year, by which time IBurst might have decided to provide coverage for the "K" in Menlopark.

I am tempted to cancel - although since I bought the modem (to get into a shorter contract) it will hurt to cancel. I'm hoping beyond hope for the end of the month to arrive and magically change our connection speeds. Heck, a couple of days ain't gonna make a difference.

im ready to cancel ASAP just waiting for the "little bit of optic" to be sorted out ... aparently very very soon ...

Im cancelling as soon as 1st September rolls past and no speed increase, and I've only been having problems with speed since they upgraded 256k

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

I agree with noone - I will also cancel if no improvement after 1 Sept, I am tired of this nonsense, especially because everything was great before.

BTW - This bandwidth management software seems to cap you more for a constant download - I started out with 8KB/s this morning and it gradually went 6,4 and 2 KB/s every 3 hours in a very predictive manner...maybe I am just hallucinating

oh, and i'm sure as hell not paying for the whole of september, so i'm cancelling on the 30th when the supposed upgrades would be finished

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

my concern is where is the bandwidth going? at best we are all capped to half. so wheres the other half going? the free modem group perhaps?

Sentech sold you the illusion that you would get decent broadband if you purchased the modem.

Cancel and claim back waht you paid for the modem as well.

In a follow up to the "worst 4x4" case, criminal charges were laid against GM/Delta and two of their employees. First court appearance is said to be 4 November 2004. See www.my4x4.co.za for more details.

I'm guessing that a similar case based on unfulfilled promises could be constructed against Sentech and some of their employees.

South Africa needs World Class Broadband at World Competitive Prices.
