Canceling vodacom contracts

I immigrated to the UK but before i did i tried to cancel my 4 contracts with vodacom but the penalty fees where to high. Is that new act law out that was sepose to start from the 1st of april? and does it benefit old contractors? My other question is how do i check when i can cancel one of my contracts cos i believe one is close to its time...? and how can i do it if i am in uk. It wil not be fair if i have to make an expensive phone call to vodacom and then still wait on line till i get service. I even sent a letter to cancel one of my contracts and pay the penalty and they received it but did not cancel it, i feel like they are taking advantage of me now.

If you aren't coming back to SA, you should've just changed bank accounts, blocked the debiting, ... you know ...

New consumer protection act does not apply to contracts signed prior to its effective date unfortunately. In terms of not paying per Mantis's advice, be careful of your credit rating I know for a fact that vodacom updates my payment history monthly to the credit agencies.
