With the recent latency problems at Sentech, I decided that I have finally had enough and set out to cancel my contract.

Following the advise of others on this site, I contacted Clinton Smith at Sentech customer services and stated my case. He was very cool and said I should send him a letter. Which I did.

I then called back today to find out what was happening. He said that Sentech has now formed a comity to review cancellation requests. This means one thing for me: they are receiving so many requests that they need a comity to review them all to prevent land-sliding. What do you think?

Oh, and I need more opinions from you all; if Sentech refuse to cancel my contract I am going to go to the bank and stop their debit order. I am then going to refer all correspondence to my lawyer and refuse to enter into any discussions with them.

I am fairly certain, given that they are in breech of contract and that their contract is obtrusive, that they would not persue legal action; they know that they do not have a leg to stand on and that legal action could set precidents.

Am I right in thinking this? Has anyone else taken this course of action (cancel debit order, play tough)?

1. An atmosphere of social harmony.
2. See comity of nations.
3. The principle by which the courts of one jurisdiction may accede or give effect to the laws or decisions of another.

..you malign the rest of us for not being able to immediately decode your glaring error, yet aren't willing in to put in even the most basic level of proof reading in the first place?

Hello pot, meet kettle.

BAck to the commitea topic ? hehe I think that this normally will lead to a prolonged time for a response, in the mean time you pay the bill and they get the gap to sort things out, if they can. I would register with them a dispute an let them disconnect the service and stop all payments untill a resolution is offered.

SoulSe - if you run into problems and they were in breach of contract, the lawyers could be the only way to go. I don't see how they could turn down a cancellation though if they are clearly not honouring their contractual obligations.

suspend account

I suggest suspending your debit order, but informing them that you have. Also return your modem to them (hand deliver) and make sure they sign receipt of modem.

Write a letter stating your complaint and address it to Clinton, make sure they sign.

Then it is a waiting game untill they respond
