Well, not completely, I still have Easyview at R210 per year.

I found that I was just watching a few channels (SS1, SS2, History, National Geographic, CNBC, sometimes CNN or Skynews).

Now I have all the local channels + Al Jazeera (actually not too bad) and CNBC.

I can rent more than 25 new movies a month and still save (my previous bill was R550 per month).

Or go and watch sport in the local pub, much more fun.

This is more of a protest about the way that DSTV structures their packages than anything else - it's iniquitous, it may even be best for me to go on a business package (if I want the sport).

I just want a basic package, and the ability to add two or three channels (at, say, R25 per month). Of course, they won't do this, as their whole system will collapse.

But I can vote with my money !

I am also thinking about that.
I have the compact at R220 - only cos of SS3 for EPL.
Never watch anything else as i usually get movies, tv series elsewhere.
Now with uncapped being an option i can get anything at R500 (+ R150 for voice rental).
So basically i will be payin R220 for SS3.

There are packages (like Compact) that are OK if you watch Soccer, and not Rugby and Cricket.

But after the last World Cup where there wasn't a single goal in four quarter-finals, even after extra time, I'm off Soccer.

My ideal package would be a different Compact, with SS1 and SS2 instead of SS3 and SS4.

At the moment I am effectively paying R100 to R200 for each Rugby game that I watch - and that is just too much !!!

Multichoice are effectively really screwing Rugby and Cricket supporters who are not interested in Soccer.

Maybe it's time for pay-per-view !

Also downgraded to easyview, a year ago.

Every now and then one gets full access and when this has happened I'm intrigued to see that the shows I had seen years before are still running.

The only thing I miss is sport, especially F1.

What about the sport? That's the only thing holding me back from canceling and buying a good media player. With uncapped adsl from various ISP's, series and movies aren't an issue. But the sport is an issue. Whats the point in watching Rugby, Cricket and F1 a few days later :( A braai with no rugby :( **** you Monochoice!

That is a problem, I agree. But there is always the local pub :D

The present cricket is on SATV3, so that's OK.

Super14, or whatever they call it now, will be a problem, but I am sure that I can make a plan.

Maybe if more people downgrade Multichoice will be forced to have more offerings ?? Unlikely, though ?

Difficult if you have kids in the house, if they can't have a Cartoon Network or Animax fix then they can't survive !

ahhh see.. but now watching cricket live in HD makes a WORLD of difference....

as much as I dislike Multichoice and their pricing, there isn't any other option if I want to watch decent sport at R550pm (and don't mention the pub.... it costs nearly R1500 pm if do it that way)

I was considering going HD, but after all the negative comment I rather went for Easyview :D

I'll see how things develop.

Maybe I get used to watching Blu-ray movies instead !

Smartest move you have done in years mate. I did that 2 years ago and now I don't watch ANY TV total crap on anyway.

Would not want to go without F1 myself.

Watching channel 412/Summit alone, pays for my DSTV + HD Bouquet most of the months :D

Have they added something with MNET included. If i can just get MNET on sat it would be awesome ... but they know that. I dont understand. If you get people to swap their decoders for sat decoders at their own expense they will move on to the full package so much easier. But then again i suppose a lot would move to just MNET. And on the topic of MNET has anyone ever noticed that the analog decoder looses audio signal even so often. It usually happens at the same time all the time. It is really irritating. For example every time Carte Blanche starts you ALWAYS miss the first 20 words they have to say. What the hell is with that!! Is it there to p!ss people of or what? Sorry if this seems like a hijack.

I also canceled DSTV 2 years ago.

Best decision I ever made.

I would rather spend my money renting movies or surfing the internet.

WOW, have just been looking at the price and functionality of Sky+HD.

Don't think that I would have cancelled anything had I had that !

DSTV stinks !!!

If it weren't for the Supersport channels I'd be long gone. Unfortunately I can't fly to every F1 race, rugby match etc. so the subscription fees are still well worth it imo.

Same here. The sports channels make DSTV worth it for me.
