IMO that's the problem, many people are prepared to pay R550 pm just for SS1 and SS2, and Multichoice know that - that's why they can get away with it !

Shut mine down about a year ago when I got pissed with all the reruns. Was thinking of connecting just for Dec and Jan for the kid, but visited family end of Nov and every single movie they had on was a re run I had seen from years back. Switched to my old favorite, Discovery..@$%$^ ......reruns.....so did not switch it on again.

I have no TV connected, as a family we rent nearly all the new release movies and I support my local DVD shop with a smile......post couch potato live is good!

Have they added something with MNET included. If i can just get MNET on sat it would be awesome ... but they know that. I dont understand. If you get people to swap their decoders for sat decoders at their own expense they will move on to the full package so much easier. But then again i suppose a lot would move to just MNET.

The MNet decoders can be hacked...although that would be a transgression of certain laws.

it may even be best for me to go on a business package (if I want the sport).

No. You will actually be paying more than R500p/m for a business subscription. Multichoice charges way way more for business enterprises, and they have to pay that subscription PER TV they may have.

I checked, it is cheaper to take a business subscription, but not enough to make it worthwhile (my monthly home subscription rate was R550).

But you are right, it's the per TV (minimum of three) that kills it. You can save a little, but not enough to make it worthwhile.

So if MultiChoice wants to play silly buggars, fine. I'm only paying R210 per year now - I'll reconsider once they have a viable HD package. Something like Sky+HD at half the price and 35 times the HD channels.

It seems a s if a lot of us are downgrading ( I did so in August/September), also as a stand to DSTV that I was not prepared to pay R560 per month for F1 that I love so much.
Of the last 3 races, I saw the title decinding race at the in-laws and other races I watched the live timing screens on the net.

How about we boycott a months subscription for January totally (no compact, premium, nothing)
The more followers we get the more powerful will be the statement.

I want series, all the sports channels, mnet channels including all the HD channels and my PVR functionality for R199 then I'd be content of getting a good deal, and that better include TOP GEAR.

Am I making sense?

Hah we were discussing this last night I am so sick of the constant repeats, the high volume of adverts that's done on purpose and the absolute sh !t quality of the programs.
going to cancel as well. I would rather download all NEW movies and series -screw you multichoice

i agree with everyone so far.. The only thing i use DSTV for is the sports... I am a soccer nut so i love it when they have more soccer on a saturday afternoon than they show in the UK... BUT .... I would love to have those channels available on a pay per view option... I would much rather go that route than pay the 500pm now...

Maybe someone form DSTV is reading the comments and can make a suggestion to higher authority...

I wish I could cancel, but fear I am hooked on the sport and documentaries. And I do enjoy some of the movies, especially the older ones I never saw when they were on the big screen.

I love DSTV Compact at R149 per month is good value , I watch cricket on SABC , I catch the Rugby at Gym, movies , series , Cartoons ,SKy & CNN & more When the cricket is not on SABC than i normally just upgrade for that month. I cannot sit at gym for 8 hrs to watch cricket so that really works for me nicely. ComeON guys R560 per month is total ripp off , I can bet you the new price is going to be R599 come April.
