Anyone know what the penalty is for cancelling a contract a month early...? Its a weekend everyday if that helps with VSP?

i need to upgrade before december, and can only cancel on the 18th, which is the 24th month. So was wondering if i cancel on the 18th of this month what the costs would be...

gees... so you saying its best to just get the new phone from Mtn, and just not use that contract and cancel it when its meant to be cancelled paying the R140 for the month i don't use it...

That's what I'm doing - got a new contract with Vodacom Direct, and am paying off the old Autopage contract till Feb. I make long calls every now and then to chew up my free minutes though - I'd rather waste them hanging on to a call centre than have Autopage score a second off me.

well i'll phone the lady today... and apparently if you number port, there is no cancellation period, you just move over like your contract has always been with whoever you port to :)

Nashua mobile quoted me R4200 to cancel my procall 120 contract with them 2.5 months short of the contract expiry date!!! WTF?!

I too want to port. The rep who gave me the quote said I shouldn't be porting then given the quote. I told him, no, more vindication that leaving Nashua was the right move.... Bloody crooks... I'll wait till the end of the contract period...

Got a contract with Autopage too and that expires in 8 months time, there early cancellation fee is R3.5k....

Vodacom sent me a quote on what it costs to cancel, with one month left, it costs R230... yup thats right R230. Strange. And then R380 which is what is outstanding on my contract to this point, which is due at the end of the month(plus a few more rands :P) anyway.

so not too bad. Mtn here i come :)

and it even says at the bottom of the cancellation quote that it is valid for 7 days :)
