Hi

I am considering canceling my data contract with Vodacom, what is your experiences when trying to cancel/opt out of a contract?

My aunt have run into a 3000 rand bill because of out of bundle data usage, some numpty sold them a 200megabyte package and I'm going to convert them to MTN Prepaid, 2 month data roll over will be alot cheaper + Safer.

But now, how to deal with Vodacom?

Thanks in advance

Converting to MTN will give you tons of data usage issues....

as long as it's Prepaid and we keep using MDMA it won't be hard to spot miscalculations and best of all there won't be any out of bundle charges.

She'd be lucky to stay connected to MTN long enough to ever use R3k's worth of data - their network is too cr@ppy.
Canceling the contract is simple, more so when you've passed the 2-year period, otherwise it will cost you.

It will probably be cheaper to stop using the existing sim on that contract for data, and put it into a phone that can only do voice, and then use it for voice only until the contract is finished.

Then get another pay-as-you-go sim for the data, and put it into the data-capable phone / device.

She doesn't use internet all that much. She and her husband doesn't have a hint of a clue about what data usage means. They just use it to talk with their children who work overseas. Hong Kong / London.

In June they didn't use any megabytes. I won't upgrade them to a bigger package just so that It can expire after each month.

I will buy them a 1 gig data bundle with MTN and let it extend into every second month. No easier solution could've existed.

Thanks for your cautioning about MTN's reputable network service, but they won't need it to work 24/7 just on some occasions when they want to skype with their children.

P.S. Can't I just try to sell this contract so some other person through the classifieds in their area?

You do know that Vodacom also offer rollover?

I don't want to pay more in order to get 30 days added to the life cycle of my data bundle.

If you mean bundles now last up to 60 days, then yes.

You don't have to. All bundles last from the date of purchse until the end of the next calendar month.

If you pay extra for Broadband Advanced your out-of-bundle rate is the same as your in-bundle rate until the end of the next calendar month.

The customer care needs to get informed of that. As far as they knw standard internet doesn't get rollover, only the advanced package has that "privelage"

Hello, that would be the same number I couldn't get calls on or personalise my call back messages, talking point errors etc. You offered to sort me out or have you forgotten?
